Your Opportunity

We are currently looking to add a Project Controls Specialist to support program and project management activities. In this role, the individual will apply technical expertise in both project scheduling and cost controls, contributing equally to planning, performance monitoring, forecasting, and reporting within a fast-paced, professional design and construction environment under the guidance of program leadership.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor integrated project schedules and cost control systems to ensure alignment with project objectives

  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Accountant to establish baseline schedules (cost and resource loaded), set up program and projects’ control budget and tasks

  • Perform ongoing schedule updates and cost tracking, including progress measurement, forecasting, and variance analysis by updating the actual cost and resources in the schedule

  • Prepare and maintain cash flow projections, budget forecasts, and schedule forecasts, ensuring consistency between cost and schedule data

  • Monitor project performance related to scope, schedule, and cost, and recommend corrective actions when deviations occur

  • Analyze and report on schedule performance (critical path, delays, float) and cost performance (earned value, variances, trends)

  • Support and administer change management processes, including evaluation of both schedule and cost impacts, and implementing the change orders in the Project CBS and the schedule

  • Prepare Backup for the Invoices in full liaison with Project Accountant

  • Support Project Managers to prepare input for the monthly reports

  • Interface with project team and subs on all project controls matters related to scheduling and cost management

  • Implement and support project control processes, including progress measurement, forecasting, change control, and reporting cycles

  • Track, document, and communicate variances, trends, and risks affecting both schedule and budget

  • Maintain accurate data in a centralized system of record to ensure consistency and reliability of project reporting

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong understanding of both scheduling and cost control principles, including CPM scheduling and earned value management (EVM)

  • Proven experience in developing and managing project schedules and budgets within engineering and construction environments

  • Ability to integrate cost and schedule data to provide meaningful performance insights and forecasts

  • Experience in preparing cost and resource loaded schedules and updating the actual costs and resources monthly to prepare the cashflow and resource forecast

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and recommend practical solutions

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy, completeness, and consistency

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

  • Proactive and results-driven, with the ability to anticipate risks and support decision-making

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt to changing priorities

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Business, or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in project controls, including both scheduling and cost controls

  • Advanced expertise in Primavera P6 for schedule development, resource loading, and cost integration

  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and earned value analysis

  • Familiarity with project management systems such as SharePoint, Trimble Unity Construct, Aconex, or similar

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other standard business tools

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
