Unix Infra is the team supporting core Unix Infrastructure environment, managing Oracle Exadata, Symantec Storage Foundation and Cluster Services, CPS (Coordination Point Services), Samba, NIS, iDM, LDAP, mailrelay (Sentrion/PPS appliances), Centrify, LDOM, VOM (Veritas Operation Manager), Solaris patching infrastructure, OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager), ASR (Automatic Servis Request) and other UNIX IT services for various internal clients. Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
• You will be responsible for planning, building, deploying, maintaining and monitoring infrastructure to support a platform that is used by hundreds of internal and external clients.
• You will provide Oracle Exadata platform Support and work with DBA, Oracle for daily tasks, expansion and patching support
• Provides wide range of system administration in a multi-platform environment
• Responsible for general systems administration (Unix/Linux) tasks including system configuration management, OS installations, security updates, urgent system patching
• Writes and implements scripts to automate tasks
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot hardware and services components that are problematic
• Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, network disruption awareness and predefined key processes
• Reviews system logs, application logs and security logs
• 24/7 rotational on-call and pager support

 


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
• To be open minded and willing to learn
• Experience supporting Linux and Solaris Operating Systems
• Experience with some of the services team is responsible for
• Excellent communication and interaction skills to clearly manage and support multiple groups and provide timely and friendly service in a support role for critical applications 
• Experience with Ansible is a plus
• Experience supporting M Series, T Series, Oracle X Platform
• Programming experience with Shell and Perl
• RH CSH Certification
• Sun Certifications
• Previous Scotiabank Experience
• Bachelor's degree in technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
