Scotiabank is enhancing its operational resilience capabilities within the Enterprise Operational Risk function and is looking for a Senior Manager who will report to the Director, Operational Risk & Resilience, to support the governance, oversight and effective challenge of the Enterprise Operational Resilience program. 

 

The Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing and effectively challenging the design and execution of the Operational Resilience Program, with a focus on the following areas: Global Banking & Markets, Global Wealth Management and Global Transaction Banking. 

 

Is this role right for you?  In this role, you will: 

 

  • Support the overall design and implementation of an enterprise-wide Operational Resilience Program. This includes leading or assisting with the following activities: 
    • Contributing towards the development and execution of the Bank’s operational resilience strategy. 
    • Supporting maintenance of Operational Resilience program documentation (Framework and Standard). 
    • Conducting 2nd line oversight and effective challenge on the execution of the Program, including the design of methodologies/ processes by the first line to support the implementation of the Operational Resilience Framework. 
    • Monitoring and ensuring remediation plans are developed to address identified vulnerabilities. 
    • Contributing to reporting on the Bank’s resilience posture. 
    • Providing advice and guidance to enhance the Bank’s resilience awareness and capabilities. 
  • Work with other risk teams and relevant stakeholders (e.g. Cyber & IT Risk, Data & AI Risk, Third Party Risk, etc.) to ensure operational resilience considerations are embedded across the Bank.  
  • Liaise with external networks and industry groups to stay abreast of current operational resilience practices, including related developments in peer banks, and the latest regulatory expectations and guidance. 
  • Drive or support ongoing and additional operational risk management projects as required. 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed?  We’d love to work with you if you have experience with: 

 

  • Undergraduate degree required. 
  • 5+ years’ experience in a risk management role.  
  • Familiarity with operational resilience regulatory requirements and best practices. 
  • Knowledge of capital markets, corporate banking and investment products/ services, and/ or wealth management products/ services strongly preferred.  
  • Good understanding of financial institutions, infrastructures and markets required. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to deliver complex initiatives under challenging timelines. 
  • Ability to identify, manage and collaborate with multiple stakeholders across a global footprint. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to prepare communications and interact effectively with senior levels of management throughout the Bank.  
  • Strong communication and presentation skills are essential to explain regulations and internal policy and procedure.  
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment as to the materiality of risks where identified. 
  • Proven time management skills and adaptability to address shifting priorities and manage competing priorities.
