The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA), under the authority of the Emergency Management Act, leads the coordination and co-operation of all organizations involved in emergencies and disasters. This includes emergency and disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.
The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) is accountable and responsible to the GoA, to Albertans, to their communities, and to industry for the protection of people, their property, and the environment from the effects of emergency events. Alberta relies on a decentralized “system” for managing the various types of emergency events that occur every year. The AEMA accomplishes its objectives by leading the co-ordination, collaboration and co-operation between all entities involved in prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery activities within this diverse system.

Role Overview
Reporting to the Manager of Emergency Management Strategic Planning and Legislation, the Policy Analyst leads the research, development, and evaluation of emergency management and 911 policy and legislative frameworks. This role is integral to ensuring Alberta’s approach is aligned with national best practices, legally sound, and responsive to the evolving needs of municipalities and Albertans. You will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, provide high-level advice to senior leadership, and support critical decisions with comprehensive, well-founded analysis. Required: University degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Disaster and Emergency Management, or Political Science or related field PLUS 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, OR 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
