Reporting to the Senior Manager, Small Business Credit Cards, the Product Manager - Small Business Credit Cards will lead data-driven portfolio performance management, financial reporting, strategic analysis, and product initiatives for the BMO Small Business credit card portfolio. This role will use data, analytics, and business insights to monitor performance, identify opportunities and risks, support forecasting and planning, and answer strategic questions that inform portfolio growth, profitability, customer experience, and long-term business strategy.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead portfolio performance management through data-driven analysis of financial results, customer behaviour, product economics, acquisition, engagement, attrition, spend, balances, revenue, losses, and profitability trends.

  • Build, maintain, and enhance recurring performance reporting, dashboards, and analytical tools that support financial tracking, business reviews, executive reporting, and ongoing portfolio management.

  • Use coding, query, and data manipulation skills to extract, transform, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources, enabling faster insight generation and more robust decision support.

  • Support forecasting, planning, and performance tracking for key business drivers, including financial targets, portfolio KPIs, campaign performance, product economics, and strategic priorities.

  • Answer strategic business questions using data by framing hypotheses, conducting analysis, identifying trends and root causes, and translating findings into actionable recommendations for senior leaders and cross-functional partners.

  • Develop business cases for campaigns, product enhancements, pricing opportunities, and strategic initiatives by analyzing alternatives, assessing financial impacts, and evaluating expected returns on investment.

  • Partner with Finance, Analytics, Reporting, Credit Risk, Marketing, Technology, and other business units to improve data quality, align performance measurement, and support fact-based decision-making across the portfolio.

  • Support product lifecycle management by leveraging market intelligence, competitive analysis, customer insights, and portfolio performance data to recommend optimizations and future enhancements.

  • Support key initiatives related to new product launches, product refreshes, and portfolio optimization efforts, partnering closely with technology and delivery teams to define requirements, measure success, and support implementation.

  • Champion the voice of the customer by translating customer, market, competitive, and behavioural insights into recommendations that improve product value propositions, customer experience, and business outcomes.

Qualifications (Knowledge & Experience)

  • 4-6 years of experience in financial services, analytics, product management, finance, strategy, or a related business performance role.

  • Demonstrated experience using data to support business decisions, including performance reporting, financial analysis, forecasting, KPI tracking, business casing, and executive-level insights.

  • Hands-on experience working with large datasets and analytical tools; experience with SQL, SAS, Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar tools is strongly preferred.

  • Strong track record translating ambiguous business questions into structured analyses, actionable recommendations, and clear decision support for senior stakeholders.

  • Experience with credit cards, lending products, banking economics, portfolio management, or customer analytics is an asset.

  • Minimum undergraduate university degree in business, finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or a related field; an MBA, analytics, finance, or other relevant post-graduate qualification is an asset.

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous questions, analyze complex datasets, identify trends, and develop actionable business recommendations.

  • Strong technical capability with data tools and coding languages such as SQL, SAS, Power BI, Tableau, and advanced Excel; able to work independently with data to generate insights.

  • Strong financial acumen, including portfolio economics, forecasting, variance analysis, profitability analysis, performance tracking, and business case development.

  • Ability to build and maintain dashboards, reporting tools, and executive-ready performance materials that clearly communicate portfolio health, risks, opportunities, and strategic implications.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to connect data insights to business strategy, customer outcomes, product priorities, and commercial performance.

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate technical analysis and complex business issues into clear, concise recommendations for senior audiences.

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of product management, customer behaviour, competitive dynamics, and financial services operating models.

  • Proven ability to influence without authority, build relationships, and partner effectively with Finance, Analytics, Risk, Marketing, Technology, and other cross-functional teams.

  • Strong time management, project management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality analysis under tight timelines.

  • Customer-oriented mindset, with the ability to incorporate customer insights and behavioural data into product and business decisions.

  • Team-oriented, collaborative, curious, and flexible, with a continuous improvement mindset and a willingness to challenge existing processes using data and evidence.

$69,000.00 - $129,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
