In this role, you will contribute in building the next generation of our Advanced Power Metering products such as the ION9000 and PM8000. Our team’s flagship product, the ION9000, won the 2021 Engineers' Choice award! Our Power meters are installed around the world and help organizations measure carbon emissions, reduce their energy consumption, and increase power reliability. What will you do?

As an Embedded Firmware Designer, you will work closely with developers, testers, and engineering professionals to design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for advanced metering products. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality features, improving system performance, and ensuring product reliability and security.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware in C/C++ for real-time systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, break down, and implement new features and enhancements
  • Develop and execute functional and automated test strategies to ensure product quality
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and risk analysis related to safety, cybersecurity, and reliability
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize firmware performance
  • Contribute to continuous integration and DevOps tooling to improve team efficiency
  • Support product validation and ongoing improvements across the product lifecycle

What qualifications will make you successful in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 2–3 years of industry experience in embedded firmware development
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++; experience with Python is an asset
  • Experience with debugging embedded systems and working with hardware
  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded architecture
  • Knowledge of software testing methodologies, including unit and integration testing
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development practices

What's in it for you?

 

The compensation range for this full-time position, which includes base pay and short-term incentive, is $64,000-$96,000 for candidates who are B.C. residents. Our salary ranges are determined by including roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Schneider Electric also offers an inclusive benefits package to support all of our employees such as flexible work arrangements, paid family leaves, pension matching, well-being programs, holidays & paid time off, and more. If you feel that your experience is either above or below the initial requirements listed, we still encourage you to apply for the position. We are considering candidates of varying seniority for this role, and the salary range will be adjusted accordingly based on your experience.
