You provide advice, recommendations, and subject matter expertise on a range of technical issues related to diesel and electric light rail vehicle fleets, non-revenue vehicles and various signaling and train control (S&TC) systems. You lead independent investigations and ensure technical compliance with the Project Agreement and applicable industry standards.
You serve as the primary technical authority for the integration and lifecycle performance of the City’s rail systems, specifically focusing on the interface between Rolling Stock (Vehicles) and Signaling & Train Control (S&TC). You ensure that all technical modifications, retrofits, and maintenance strategies comply with the Project Agreement, safety regulatory standards (Transport Canada/EN 50126), and operational reliability targets.
Completion of a 4-year university degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering or another related field.
Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in rail vehicle fleet engineering, maintenance, operations, testing and commissioning, overhaul planning, life cycle planning, and reliability improvement programs for new and existing fleets. Experience in transit railway systems and vehicles, including electric and diesel trains, and train control systems is required.
