POSITION SUMMARY
The Plastics Machine Operator (Sheetline) is responsible for the setup, operation, and optimization of extrusion sheetline equipment used in the production of high-quality Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) sheets. This role requires strong technical expertise in plastics processing, including extrusion parameters, material behavior, and downstream equipment.
The operator will play a key role in maintaining process stability, minimizing downtime, ensuring product quality, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the production environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Set up, start up, and operate PET extrusion sheetline equipment, including extruders, screen changers, melt pumps, dies, chill rolls, trim systems, and winders
Monitor and adjust critical process parameters (temperature zones, pressure, screw speed, line speed, gauge control) to ensure optimal sheet quality and consistency
Perform tooling changes, die adjustments, and calibrations to meet product specifications
Troubleshoot process issues such as gauge variation, gels, contamination, sheet defects, and equipment malfunctions
Conduct in-process quality inspections (thickness, clarity, surface finish, dimensional accuracy) and take corrective action as needed
Perform routine preventative maintenance and assist maintenance teams with mechanical troubleshooting when required
Maintain accurate production records, process logs, and downtime reporting
Ensure strict adherence to safety, food-grade, and GMP standards
Optimize production efficiency by reducing scrap, minimizing downtime, and improving line performance
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to process optimization and equipment performance
Qualifications:
2+ years of hands-on experience operating plastics extrusion sheetline or similar processing equipment (PET experience strongly preferred)
Strong understanding of extrusion processes, polymer behavior, and thermal dynamics
Experience with die setup, gauge control systems, and downstream equipment (rollers, winders, cutters)
Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical and process-related issues independently
Mechanically inclined with working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-output manufacturing environment
Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and consistency
Ability to read and follow SOPs, technical specifications, and production documentation
Physically capable of standing for extended periods (12-hour shifts) and performing manual tasks as required
Reliable with strong attendance and a proactive work ethic
Preferred:
Experience in PET sheet extrusion or food-grade plastics manufacturing
Familiarity with automated control systems (PLC/HMI interfaces)
Forklift certification or material handling experience
This role is ideal for a technically skilled operator who can take ownership of the production line, proactively troubleshoot issues, and contribute to continuous process improvement.
