The Ministry of Energy and Minerals is responsible for sustaining the interests of Alber-tans through the stewardship and responsible development of energy and mineral re-source and pore space systems. The Ministry Services Division provides enterprise-wide support services for the Department of Energy and Minerals and ensures alignment with and adherence to related Government of Alberta policies.
The Finance and Administration Branch provides financial operations, planning, reporting, procurement and quality assurance services.
The Financial Operations and Systems unit provides accounts payable, cash receipts, procurement, and systems support (i.e. CARS2, PowerBI, etc).
The Petrinex Branch is seeking a Senior Analyst for a temporary position within the Financial Operations unit. This role supports financial reporting, data analytics, and system integrity, contributing to informed decision-making and policy development across the department and the Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission (APMC).
Reporting to the Director, Financial Operations, this senior-level position operates with a high degree of autonomy and accountability. The successful candidate will take on leadership responsibilities such as setting priorities, reviewing work, and guiding deliverables, while working collaboratively with stakeholders, program areas, and technical professionals to deliver data-driven solutions that support business operations and strategic initiatives.
This position plays a critical role in financial reporting, data management, system governance, and advanced analytics, while also supporting major initiatives such as Bitumen Royalty In Kind (BRIK) and Gas Royalty In Kind (GRIK).

This is a key role requiring strong financial expertise, advanced data analytics capabilities, and the ability to work independently in a complex and dynamic environment. The successful candidate will play an important role in strengthening data-driven decision-making, enhancing system integrity, and supporting high-impact initiatives.

Minimum University graduation in a Data Analytics, Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, or Economics or related field supplemented by four (4) years of related experience in data analytics and visualization and financial reporting.
Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
