We have a number of projects across Canada that require a Junior/Intermediate Contract Administrator to be part of our award-winning team.
As a Contract Administrator, you will work as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary team delivering complex projects in Alberta and across Canada, with potential support for select US projects. You will be responsible for coordinating and administering contract award and subsequent contract administration activities related to complex, fast-paced contracts.
Your Key Responsibilities
Support the development of contracting strategy and contract execution plans
Support the contracting cycle, including preparation of RFX packages, clarifications, evaluations, and negotiation support
Interpret contracts and ensure compliance with contract terms
Monitor and verify contract progress
Review schedules and support assessment of delay impacts as they relate to contract performance and change events
Liaise with clients, project managers, and subconsultants to move construction deliverables forward
Prepare and process contract administration deliverables, including: - Technical drawing submittals
Requests for information
Change directives, contemplated change notices, and change orders
Contract amendments
Progress payment certificates
Evaluate contractors’ submissions for changes and claims
Support construction-phase contract administration activities, including coordination of contract changes, progress tracking, and issue resolution
Process contract close-out documents
Prepare various reports and other correspondence related to areas of responsibility
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Strong knowledge of procurement and contracting principles, methods, procedures, and practices, including contract administration related to change management, claims, schedule impacts, and delays
Familiarity with common contract models, including lump sum, unit rate, and reimbursable arrangements, is considered an asset
Working knowledge of relevant engineering and construction practices within the Energy & Resources sector, as well as pertinent legislation, standards, and scheduling methods
Experience supporting construction-phase contract administration and working with project teams during execution is considered an asset
Sound judgment, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess commercial risks and support effective decision-making
Effective interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
Demonstrated organizational, administrative, and decision-making skills required to effectively handle changing priorities and project deadlines
Ability to coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives
Good working knowledge of standard business and project tools, including Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems
Education and Experience
Diploma or degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
Junior: 2–5 years of relevant experience in contract administration, procurement, or project support
Intermediate: 5–10 years of relevant experience in contract administration within engineering, construction, or Energy & Resources projects
Experience supporting or administering contracts in an EPC/EPCM environment is considered an asset
Professional designations such as SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) or equivalent are considered an asset

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
