Stantec’s Geospatial Services Group has a full-time opportunity for Survey Crew Chief based in Edmonton, Alberta.
Your Key Responsibilities
Performing a variety of surveys, including topographic, legal and construction surveys with minimal supervision
Field work may also include specialized services, such as 3D laser scanning, bathymetric, unmanned aerial systems and buried utility locating. Experience in these areas would be considered an asset
Actively participate and promote Stantec’s Health & Safety culture and awareness
Effective communication with Project Managers and Field Coordinators as to progress updates, scope changes, HSSE reporting and other project impacts
Act as a company representative, liaising directly with client field representatives and land owners
Some office technical survey work may be required in this position
Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment
Effective communication skills - verbal and written; ability to produce accurate and legible field notes
Manage information flow from field to office and prepare clear, concise, and accurate field notes, records, and calculations
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Experience tracing buried facilities using Electromagnetic Locating techniques
Ability to execute surveys in an accurate, efficient, detailed and safe manner
Proficiency with GPS, Total stations and Electromagnetic Locators. Working knowledge of Trimble GPS and Trimble Total Stations is an asset
A valid Alberta Class 5 Vehicle Operator’s License
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
This position may require travelling to various sites across Canada
Experience working in remote field environments
Physical ability to work in mountainous and forested terrain and ability to lift/carry heavy equipment.
Willing to work in various environmental conditions with varied terrain, able to work in wildlife populated areas, and willing to work in remote field areas for extended periods and varied hours
Education and Experience
Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of 2 years of field survey experience
Required Certifications (must have or be able to complete the following): - Standard First Aid
H2S Alive
WHMIS
CSTS 2020 (Construction Safety Training System)
CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
Line Locating Certification
Valid Driver’s License

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required.
