Our Building Specialty Services (BSS) group is one of the growing service offerings at our organization that includes a diverse mix of professionals with practical design, field, and industry research and product development expertise. This group pursues top projects and clients to showcase their expertise.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Technologist/Designer to join our structural team, contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from small-scale developments to complex, large-scale buildings. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage with clients, consultants, and contractors to deliver high-quality structural designs using a variety of materials including concrete, steel, masonry, and wood. You will play a key role in preparing and refining technical drawings, calculations, and documentation across all project phases, while ensuring alignment with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements. This position offers an opportunity to apply both technical expertise and creative problem-solving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, while supporting project delivery, quality assurance, and ongoing team development.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Work on multiple projects of small to large scale using various materials.

Interact with a wide variety of clients from owners, developers, consultants, and contractors.

  • Prepare design calculations, technical specifications, and engineering drawings for concrete, steel, masonry and wood building structures.

  • Prepare and revise documentation at various design phases, including floor plans, diagrams, and details.

  • Work with team members in determining viable solutions for design issues.

  • Work to and meet project time lines and budgets.

  • Coordinate design work with other disciplines, other offices, and other project team members.

  • Preparation and review of technical reports.

  • Participate in constructability reviews.

  • Participate in Stantec’s quality assurance and quality control process.

  • Construction administration including site reviews.

  • Mentoring, coaching and training of less experienced professionals as required

Education and Experience

Minimum of a Technologist/Technician degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture from an accredited college required. 5+ years of relevant experience in consulting within an architectural/engineering team preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:

• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$61,900.00 - $86,700.00 Annually
