Here at Stantec we are pushing the boundaries of innovation, and we are now pursuing a highly motivated and technically capable GIS professional to join our Geospatial Discipline within the Water Delivery business unit. We collaborate closely with our colleagues and clients to meet the challenges they face within the water resources and related industries, including energy, transportation, risk assessment, environmental management, sustainability, and resiliency.
The selected candidate can be based at one of the Canadian Stantec offices, and we offer flexible work arrangements (e.g., in-office, hybrid).
Your Key Responsibilities
Work with project teams to determine the optimal approach for using geospatial technologies to meet client needs, accurately estimate the corresponding level of effort, and then see implementation through to completion.
Approach each task, regardless of size and scope, as an opportunity to rethink the traditional ways data is collected, managed, visualized, and delivered.
Produce concise, clear, and compelling cartographic output, both dynamic and static, with a keen eye for aesthetics.
Develop, configure, and manage dynamic and impactful web GIS applications.
Balance a high level of creativity with adherence to established Stantec GIS standards and best practices.
Always be persistent and diligent about quality, both in one’s own work and the work of others.
Actively engage in the greater GIS community, both locally and beyond, staying aware of the state of practice, new tools and technology, and opportunities for growth.
Adapt to changes in project schedule, scope, and cost, and be willing to work non-traditional hours as needed.
Maintain a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts degree or related education and experience
Minimum Five years work experience as a GIS professional.
Experience building and using a GIS to solve problems, present results, and graphically report analytical data.
Advanced skills using Esri ArcGIS Pro ArcGIS for Desktop, and ArcGIS Online.
Experience using ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal, Experience Builder, Dashboards, Hub Sites, and GeoBIM, is a benefit.
Mobile data collection, processing, and integration (Field Maps, Survey123) experience is a benefit.
GIS-CAD data interoperability and integration skills are a benefit.
Basic understanding of water, storm and sanitary sewer infrastructure systems and principles is a benefit.
Strong written, oral, and virtual communication skills for all levels of technical understanding.
Enthusiastic, and self-disciplined to work effectively in an exciting, diverse, and challenging environment.
Self-motivated to continuously improve and learn new technical and consulting skillsets.
Candidates will ideally supply a portfolio of their work.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS or related field required.
Knowledgeable of customization, automation, and extract-transform-load (ETL); Arcade, Python, FME, ModelBuilder, ArcGIS API is an asset.
Experience with the Esri’s ArcGIS Utility Network or possess the ArcGIS Utility Network Specialty Certification, is an asset.
GISP certification, is an asset.
Pay Range:
• Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC & Various locations in Ontario-$82,000.00 - $118,900.00 Annually
• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$86,900.00 - $126,000.00 Annually
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
