Defence Construction Canada (DCC) is a trusted Government of Canada partner, delivering infrastructure and environmental solutions in support of Canada’s defence and security priorities. We’re looking for an IT Project Manager to join a team transforming DCC’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to modernize how DCC operates.
What you’ll do
As a key member of the project management team, you’ll take ownership of day‑to‑day technical delivery. You will keep the project on track, working closely with other project leaders, business teams, and external partners.
Keeping the project on track
• Developing and maintaining integrated project schedules, resource plans, and delivery forecasts covering all delivery streams and dependencies
• Actively managing milestone and critical path activities, and day-to-day execution risks
• Managing progress, scope, issues, risks (keeping RAID logs), and changes through formal governance and control processes
• Preparing impact-based analysis for escalation when risk thresholds are exceeded
Playing a hands-on delivery role
• Coordinating data migration planning, sequencing, testing, and execution and control activities
• Planning and coordinating integration builds, testing, and defect-resolution activities
• Planning and coordinating business and technical test cycles, defect remediation
• Coordinating go-live planning, rehearsal activities, and readiness
Coordinating vendors, system integrators, and the delivery team
• Coordinating daily execution activities with system integrator delivery teams, internal IT teams, and business working groups
• Ensuring deliverables meet agreed quality standards and approved scope
Communicating clearly
• Providing accurate and timely status updates, delivery metrics, and performance reporting to project leaders
• Maintaining project traceability across plans, risks, issues, and actions
• Developing and providing project leaders with briefings, decision support, and stakeholder communication messages
What you bring
You’re a confident, hands on project manager who knows how to keep complex IT initiatives moving forward, especially when multiple vendors, risks, and dependencies are involved.
Your background
• University degree in computer science or a related field, plus six years of relevant IT project management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience delivering ERP or other large scale enterprise systems essential
Your knowledge and skills
• Direct experience coordinating data migration, integration delivery, and testing and go-live planning
• Strong understanding of the ERP implementation lifecycle and typical failure points
• Excellent execution discipline and dependency-management skills
• Ability to distinguish execution issues and escalation-worthy risks
• Ability to communicate clear and concisely to technical and business stakeholders
• Proven ability to operate effectively in a structured governance environment
• Formal project management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2)
• Bilingual preferred

You’ll work in a hybrid office environment in Ottawa, with occasional travel to support project delivery and stakeholder engagement, as required.

To begin a career with Defence Construction Canada (DCC), you must be a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. As a condition of employment with DCC, a minimum reliability security status clearance is required and some roles may require secret security status clearance.
DCC is responsible for the Personnel Security Clearance process. Typically to be eligible for a "Reliability" clearance, you must have five years of verifiable background information and to be eligible for a "Secret" clearance, you must have 10 years of verifiable background information. The process usually involves reference inquiries, verification of qualifications, criminal records checks, and credit checks (as required) and may require fingerprints. The appropriate security clearance is a condition of employment and it is the candidate’s or employee’s responsibility to ensure, they are able to obtain and maintain their required security level clearance to begin or continue their employment with DCC.
