We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Sales Manager to join our team at The Westin Bear Mountain Resort & Spa, located in beautiful Victoria, BC.
This key role focuses on driving revenue growth through strategic sales initiatives, expanding into new markets, and staying ahead of trends in the hospitality industry. The successful candidate will play an active role in both business development and the execution of the hotel’s overall sales strategy.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the Vancouver Island hotel market, particularly in group bookings, conventions, banquets, and corporate events. Success in this role will come from building strong client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and delivering tailored solutions that meet client needs.
The position offers a salary range of $65,000 to $85,000 CAD, depending on experience, along with a performance incentive based on individual productivity.
Sales & Business Development
Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities across group, corporate, convention, and association segments within local and provincial markets
Drive hotel occupancy and revenue by opening new markets and anticipating industry trends
Promote the hotel’s full range of services, including banquet facilities, meeting and event spaces, spa, and guestrooms
Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, meeting planners, and event organizers
Conduct sales calls, site inspections, and attend industry events and trade shows
Respond to inquiries with tailored proposals and negotiate contracts aligned with client needs
Maintain accurate records of client interactions using Marriott CI/TY and related systems
Strategic Planning & Performance
Support the development and execution of the hotel’s sales and marketing strategy
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and performance data to identify growth opportunities
Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and tracking sales performance against revenue goals
Provide regular updates and reports on sales activities and business development progress
Collaboration & Execution
Work closely with Events, Operations, and Marketing teams to ensure alignment with hotel capacity and strategic objectives
Coordinate the execution of group contracts and ensure seamless service delivery across departments
Support a collaborative environment focused on exceeding guest and client expectations
Contribute to continuous improvement by staying informed on client needs and evolving market trends
Team Support & Leadership
Collaborate with the sales and events teams to support overall performance and alignment with sales goals
Provide input and support in maintaining strong team engagement and service standards
Work cross-functionally with department leaders to ensure consistency and operational success
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in hotel sales, hospitality sales, or business development
Strong understanding of group, corporate, and event-driven business
Proven ability to generate new business and close high-value opportunities
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and support revenue strategies
Experience with Marriott systems (CI/TY or similar CRM tools) is an asset
Ability to travel locally and attend industry events as required
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
65,000.00 to $85,0000 per year. Remuneration commensurates with experience and in accordance with our established compensation guidelines. Base salary of $150,000 CAD plus an annual incentive of up to $50,000 based on achieving budgeted revenue targets as determined by Ownership. We offer a competitive package of benefits and perks.
