Your Opportunity

As Stantec's Energy & Resources group continues to grow, we have an opportunity for a Project Controller Lead to join our team for a site-based secondment in Sudbury, ON. The Project Controls Lead reports to the Client’s Project Controls Manager but on a day-to-day basis works in collaboration with the project teams.

Your Key Responsibilities

Collaborating with Senior Project Managers, Construction Managers, Project Planners and Schedulers, Project Accountants and other team members including clients, the Project Controls Specialist will:

  • Actively participate in the development of project estimates, budgets, resource plans, and schedules for all project lifecycle phases.

  • Fully understand the scope of the assigned project, proactively identify and communicate potential gaps and risks.

  • Work closely with project teams to maintain a current and accurate understanding of project status, issues and changes.

  • Communicate effectively with internal team members, leadership, financial managers, external clients and consultants.

  • Produce lagging and leading performance indicator reports including earned value, potential change order logs, risk registers, estimates to complete, variance reports, etc. to enable proactive decision making.

  • Keep the project teams informed of barriers to maintaining the budget and schedule, offer recommendations for corrective actions or opportunities to increase efficiencies.

  • Develop and cultivate positive relationships with Clients.

  • Continuously seek to improve Project Controls processes

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experienced with engineering and construction.

  • Extensive experience in engineering, procurement and execution plan development including resource loading, performance tracking, forecast validation and change management.

  • Must have a proven track record of positively contributing to a multi-disciplinary project design, procurement and construction team.

  • Strong task management skills, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and competing priorities across multiple projects.

  • Demonstrated success in building trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong leadership, communicative, analytical and adaptability skills.

  • Proficiency with MS 365 Office suite, particularly Excel. Skills & experience with other software solutions (SAP, Oracle/P6, Contruent, InEight, Etc.) is also desirable.

  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence platforms is desirable.

  • Must be self-sufficient, self-motivated, and possess the ability to multitask.

Education and Experience

  • Professional degree in engineering is considered an asset

  • Completion of a diploma or degree in a certified project management program is considered an asset

  • Desired qualifications include certifications from AACE International and PMI, such as PMP, CCP, and scheduling credentials, but not limited to these

  • 10+ years of related experience in performing cost and schedule management and other project controls functions

This role is a site-based secondment for the duration of the project (12-18 months).

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
