Position Overview

The Activity Leader – Simulation Specialist plans, coordinates, and delivers simulation-enabled

collective training in support of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) land operations. The role leads

complex training events at the Unit and Brigade level, partnering closely with military staff to ensure

training objectives and operational requirements are met.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute simulation based collective training activities.
  • Support the Chief of Warfare Centre (CWC) and Assistant CWC in preparing Integrated Simulation Events (ISEs), including:
  • Participate in and support planning conferences by delivering briefings, facilitating working groups, and guiding discussions.
  • Develop and manage simulation scenarios aligned with training objectives and operational needs.
  • Produce detailed activity support materials, including:
  • Conduct testing and trials to validate that activities meet intended aims and objectives.
  • Advise military staff on progress toward training objectives during execution.
  • Support after action reviews, analysis, and reporting in coordination with the Chief Simulation Lead (CSL).

Qualifications

  • AFAY Qualification (or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Canadian Armed Forces)
  • Directing or supervising training activities at the Unit or Brigade Level
  • Serving as an instructor or directing staff at a Canadian Armed Forces instructional Institution (or NATO/ABCA equivalent), including Professional Military Education or instructional establishments.
  • Employment within a Headquarters organization at the Brigade, Division, or National level.
  • Organizing and delivering complex collective military training.
  • Minimum 2 years directing or managing a Combat Arms organization (Armour, Artillery, Combat Engineers, or Infantry) of at least 100 personnel, with responsibility for:
  • Minimum 4 years using simulation systems to design, develop, and deliver collective training events up to the Unit or Brigade level.
  • Must be able to obtain a Federal Government of Canada Security Clearance at the Secret Level
