Agilus is recruiting for a Environmental & Hydrogeology Technologist in the oil & gas sector in Calgary, Alberta.
The Environmental & Hydrogeology Technologist supports regulatory compliance and environmental risk management for upstream and legacy oil and gas assets. This role involves conducting environmental fieldwork, analyzing soil and groundwater data, managing contaminated site assessments, and preparing regulatory documentation.

A typical day:
This role requires a strong strategic thinker, technical and project management skills to mitigate risks for our assets, working as part of a larger integrated multi-disciplined team.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, the technologist provides technical expertise to ensure compliance with provincial and federal requirements while supporting responsible asset management.
You will provide regulatory, environmental and geoscience expertise support for Exploration and Production and the Legacy Asset teams.
Conducting file reviews, compiling and analyzing intricate datasets, analysis, evaluation and reporting and developing innovative solutions for contaminated site management.
Experience conducting environmental field work and understanding of field programs for regulatory purposes including the collection of, soil, water and/or other materials for laboratory analysis.
Successful candidates will have:
2 years experience in a relevant field with related experience in the oil industry preferred.
College diploma in a Geoscience, Geological, Hydrogeology, Groundwater, Earth Science, Environmental, or Civil Engineering Technology/Technician program or other relevant field.
Collect and analyze data under the supervision of an experienced hydrogeologist / geoscientist and/or project manager.
Experience conducting environmental field work and understanding of field programs for regulatory purposes including the collection of, soil, water and/or other materials for laboratory analysis.
Provide technical regulatory, environmental and geoscience skills / expertise to support asset management and ensure and support regulatory compliance.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail, Technical writing skills for reviewing and preparing regulatory applications. Strategic thinker, Proficient with MS Office Suite; excellent knowledge of Excel and Word.
Assist in preparation and review of comprehensive environmental reports and summarize the information for Senior Management, Proficiency in presenting complex results clearly, Preference of experience in upstream soil and groundwater, site assessments, hydrocarbon contamination management, and working knowledge of provincial and federal legislations and guidelines.
Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering questions, Knowledge of hydraulic and hydrologic and / or geological modeling software, Analyze topographic surveys, geotechnical reports and hydrological data, Database experience.
Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D is an asset, Assist in supporting environmental assessment reports including data tables, borehole logs, test pit logs, GIS/CAD etc.
