C.R. Plastic Products Inc. (an Ice River Sustainable Solutions Company) located in Stratford, Ontario is currently hiring a Production Department Supervisor.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position provides support to the Manager, Team Leads, and Production Team Members, and is responsible for the 24/5 operation of the Manual Assembly & CNC Department. The Production Department Supervisor will drive the team towards achieving all departmental metrics. The main responsibilities include providing direction, training, and coaching to Production Team Members and Leads to ensure production goals are met in a timely manner with adherence to safety and quality standards.  As well as evaluating the team to ensure that they can perform the required job tasks to meet company goals (i.e., safety, quality, and productivity).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with health and safety legislation and housekeeping practices, use of personal protective equipment, and any other company policies.
  • Responsible for the management and prevention of workplace injuries, responsible for accommodating injured workers to suitable employment, and for reporting to Production Manager as needed, on the prevention activities and outcomes of return to work.
  • Work closely with the Master Scheduler to ensure all work orders are completed by the scheduled date and adjust production schedules accordingly. Monitor WIP levels to ensure they fall between Min/Max levels.
  • Work with Maintenance & Scheduling to ensure timely completion of PM’s on machines.
  • Work with the Production Manager and Human Resources to define direct labour requirements, interview candidates, and make hiring decisions.
  • Enforce all company policies according to the handbook including the discipline of direct labour workforce.
  • Work with Quality Assurance & Control to ensure that all product meets quality control standards.
  • Monitor OEE% by machine and drive RCCA activities when deviating from the target based on downtime, quality, and productivity issues.
  • Lead and develop Team Leads.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/SKILL/ EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years’ experience within manufacturing operations with leadership experience.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing tools.
  • Post-Secondary Education in a Technical Field or demonstrated experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel).
  • Forklift license and experience preferred, (Internal certification available).
  • First Aid certification is an asset.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job may include but are not limited to close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. 
  • Must be able to stand continuously for the duration of the scheduled shift.
