JOB SUMMARY

Directly Operated Child Care Services is responsible for planning and managing the delivery and operations of Child Care programs and services delivered to the community through the Municipal Child Care Centres.

You are responsible for maintaining staffing schedules for staff, ensuring related data is accurately captured for work hours, leave information, pay and overtime of employees.  You support Payroll and Human Resources activities affecting the operations. Work is performed in accordance with relevant legislation (including Employment Standards Act, Ministry of Education Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYC), etc.), corporate and departmental policies and procedures, Collective Agreements, and the related Service Delivery Model.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of Grade 12 

Minimum of 5 years of clerical and administrative experience performing administration relevant to child care, municipal child care or day care centres, using a scheduling system or in a human resources related area

KNOWLEDGE

  • Corporate and branch related policies and procedures (including MFIPPA, ATIP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of complex Staff Scheduling practices and procedures 
  • Labour relations, collective agreements related to hours of work, overtime, shift scheduling, benefits, leave and premiums
  • Knowledge of HR and Payroll related activities 
  • Corporate and branch specific software applications and systems including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and SAP 
  • Principles of records management
  • Office administration procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Language Requirement: Designated Day 1 Ready – immediate requirement for language proficiency: French: oral, reading, writing English: oral, reading, writing Candidates must meet language requirement for position upon hire.
  • You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
  • Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
