The Ministry of Children and Family Services funds programs and services to support vulnerable children, youth, families, and individuals to live safely and succeed in Alberta. This includes providing services and resources to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect, and effectively address harm that has placed them in need of intervention.
Mentoring and support services are available to youth transitioning into healthy, productive adults. The ministry also invests in community-based groups that support prevention and early intervention services such as Family Resource Networks, youth emergency shelters as well as programs that raise awareness and help respond to family violence, sexual violence, and abuse.

The following Child Intervention Framework competencies are essential for success in this role:
Requirements: Bachelor of Social Work or Social Work Diploma and 3 years related experience.
The successful candidate must be Delegated Category 7 under the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act in Alberta and must have the related skills, abilities, knowledge and experience to be delegated. Additionally, there is an expectation for this position to provide on-call/afterhours services on a regular basis as part of their delegated duties under the CYFEA.
Equivalencies:
Related university degree can include: Bachelor of Child Studies/Child & Youth Care, BA Education, Bachelor of Health Sciences, Bachelor of Human Services, BA/BSc Psychology, BA Sociology, Bachelor of Community Rehab, BSc. Family Studies/Human Ecology, BA Early Child Development, Bachelor of Indigenous Studies.
Related diploma can include: Addictions/Counselling Diploma, Child and Youth Care Diploma, Human Services Diploma and Criminal Justice Diploma.
Related Experience includes: Case management and planning in a child intervention setting; crisis intervention and protection work; supporting foster and kinship care programs; family preservation and family support; counselling youth and families; knowledge of community connections and socially inclusive environments; as well as experience and understanding of Indigenous peoples, various cultures, community connections and social inclusive environments.
