Eligibility:

This posting is open to Permanent Teachers and Probationary Teachers currently employed by Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board. This is a one (1) year appointment, with the possibility of extension for another (3) three years, subject to continued funding. The teacher will have the right of first refusal the following school year should the appointment be extended.

Salary Range:

Paid based on the salary grid of the Collective Agreement with OECTA according to QECO rating and years of experience.

Qualifications :

  • Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
  • Primary/Junior or Junior/Intermediate Qualifications
  • Special Education Specialist Qualifications
  • Religious Education, Part 1
  • 5 years of classroom teaching experience, preferred
  • Special Education teaching experience, preferred
Desired Assets:
  • Aspiring Catholic Leadership, Part 1
  • SMHO – Mental Health in Action for Education

  • Complete Faith Reference Portfolio indicating you are a practicing Roman Catholic (current within 1 year)
Notes:

The successful candidate will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of our ALCDSB philosophy of special education and a commitment to building nurturing communities of belonging. The successful candidate must be an effective communicator who has demonstrated the ability to collaborate as a team. They must possess an in-depth understanding of the principles of Universal Design for Learning, Differentiated Instruction and an ability to articulate a vision for the use of technology to support teaching and learning. They will demonstrate the ability to provide insight and expertise in planning and procedures related to special education supports and services in our elementary and secondary schools including provision of central and school based professional learning, clarifying and supporting system and Ministry of Education initiatives. They will work as part of an intregrated team supporting the work of the system in professional development within a framework of an authentic ministry of service.

Significant current experience as a Special Education Resource Teacher and/or Centre Teacher would be beneficial in working with Special Education staff to meet the needs of students with exceptionalities.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide their own vehicle to travel to school sites. The successful candidate will work out of the Board Office, Napanee. Travel expenses will be paid according to Article 25 of the current Collective Agreement. Please contact Human Resources for further information.
