Eligibility:

This posting is open to Permanent Teachers and Probationary Teachers currently employed by Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board. This is a one (1) year appointment, with the possibility of extension for another (3) three years, subject to continued funding. The teacher will have the right of first refusal the following school year should the appointment be extended.

Salary Range:

Paid based on the salary grid of the Collective Agreement with OECTA according to QECO rating and years of experience.

Assignment:

  • Special Assignment Teacher, Indigenous Education, K-12

Commencing September 1, 2026

Qualifications :

  • Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
  • Primary/Junior, Junior/Intermediate or Intermediate/Senior Qualifications
  • Religious Education, Part 1
  • 5 years of classroom teaching experience, preferred
  • Teaching experience in both education panels, an asset
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and methodologies, an asset.

  • Aspiring Catholic Leadership, Part 1
  • SMHO – Mental Health in Action for Education

  • Copy of current OCT Certificate of Qualifications
  • Complete Faith Reference Portfolio indicating you are a practicing Roman Catholic (current within 1 year)
Notes:

Reporting to the Superintendent of School Education, the successful candidate will support faith development and the building of Catholic character and culture within school communities through the effective delivery of Indigenous Education programs which will include the integration of faith across the curriculum. The successful candidate will support an inquiry-based approach to Indigenous education focusing on the themes of teaching and learning, student engagement and issues of equity and inclusion linked to the Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement.

The successful candidate must be an effective communicator who has demonstrated the ability to collaborate as team with school and board staff as well as parish and community partners and will work as part of an integrated team supporting the work of the system in partnership with other central staff. In addition, the successful candidate must be committed to their own faith and professional development within a framework of an authentic ministry of service.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide their own vehicle to travel to school sites. The successful candidate will work out of the Board Office, Napanee. Travel expenses will be paid according to Article 25 of the current Collective Agreement. Please contact Human Resources for further information.
