Agilus is recruiting for a Planning Engineer II in the Oil and Gas Sector in Edmonton, Alberta. This role is best suited for experienced Engineers (Project Engineers, Field Engineers, Construction Engineers, or Execution-focused Planning Engineers) who are comfortable working across many stakeholders simultaneously and who take ownership for advancing work, increasing in-year execution, and seeing plans carried through to the field. Total rewards: $45.00 - $54.00 hourly Pay Rates Max $47/hr for T4 and Max $54/hr as IC 1 year contract Work Model: Mon, Tues, Thurs in office/ Wed and Fri WFH.40 hours per week Location: Edmonton or Calgary A typical day: • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Project Controls, Project Schedulers, Construction Managers, Regional Engineers, Regional Pipeline Maintenance teams, Supply Chain, and Investment Owners (Sponsors) to drive execution readiness, alignment, and follow-through across the portfolio. A core accountability is site layout planning and owning program-level risk and opportunity identification and driving execution-focused optimizations, targeting gaining months or years of schedule through early enablement, sequencing, and stakeholder alignment. • Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Project Controls, Project Schedulers, Construction Managers, Regional Engineers, Regional Pipeline Maintenance teams, Supply Chain, and Investment Owners (Sponsors) to drive execution readiness, alignment, and follow-through across the portfolio. • The Planning Engineer enables safe, accelerated execution of a large, multi-billion-dollar brownfield pipeline and facilities portfolio across multiple states and provinces. The role focuses on advancing mechanical, electrical, and civil projects into service earlier by identifying risks, unlocking opportunities, and aligning engineering, procurement, construction, operations, supply chain, and investment owners. • Identify program-level risks and opportunities and actively drive optimization actions that improve schedule certainty, resource capacity, and business investment value. • Identify opportunities to increase in-year capital execution by advancing in-scope work, accelerating ISDs, and unlocking execution readiness ahead of plan. • Develop and maintain spatial plot plans in GIS to manage congestion, sequencing, and resource constraints. High-value tuck-in and complementary scopes (including across disciplines of electrical, civil and mechanical) are identified early, bundled as appropriate, and executed efficiently alongside sanctioned work. Successful candidates will have: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related). • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the applicable regulator. • Strong understanding of brownfield execution within energized electrical systems or pressurized, flowing pipelines. • 8+ years of experience supporting execution of pipeline or facilities projects, with accountability for scope, schedule, or execution outcomes • Pipeline intervention experience (e.g., Stopples, Biseps, Line Stops, hot taps). • Field engineering, construction management, or inspection experience • Experience applying value-based or asset-focused investment decision-making frameworks.
