We have an exciting opportunity at Commissionaires Nova Scotia (CNS) for an experienced Supervisor to step in to this high profile Manager role. Reporting directly to the District Manager, the Station Manager will serve as the on-site lead representative of Commissionaires at Halifax Stanfield International Airport (HIAA), responsible for overseeing daily operations, supervising personnel, and ensuring continuous business operations in alignment with HIAA’s policies and service expectations. This dedicated role will provide direct, immediate access to senior management oversight, reinforcing the high quality of service delivery and enhancing the collaborative relationship with HIAA.

THE ROLE

Position: Station Manager
Competition Number: CNS 2026-04-101
Location: Based on site with some work in Bedford HQ / commutable areas include Truro, Windsor, Hubbards

Reports to: HRM District Manager

Working Hours: Monday- Friday, 08:00 to 16:00hrs PLUS Saturday 0800-1200
Hourly Wage: $30.00 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities:

While duties vary by assignment, the responsibilities of this role may include, but are not limited to:



Site Leadership & Oversight

  • Provide daily on-site leadership and supervision of all contracted personnel.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for HIAA management regarding contract fulfillment and operational matters.


Personnel Management

  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management of site staff.
  • Schedule personnel to ensure full operational coverage and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Guide and support Shift Supervisors in their duties.


Operational Management

  • Ensure compliance with airport-specific policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor service delivery to ensure adherence to performance standards and prompt issue resolution.
  • Coordinate closely with Commissionaires’ 24/7 Operations Centre for continuous support and oversight.


Reporting & Communication

  • Maintain regular communication with Commissionaires’ Accounts Manager.
  • Provide updates and reports on site performance, staffing, incidents, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Additional Duties: 

  • Managing the site cost centre for staffing, overtime and equipment 
  • Effectively coach, motivate, discipline and provide feedback when necessary
  • Work with internal stakeholders to fill any outstanding site staffing requirements
  • Ensuring timely and accurate delivery of communication, including all Incident Reports
  • Administrative control of records, incidents, and security infraction reports
  • Ensure SWI’s (Site Work Instructions), dress standards, and safety equipment regulations are adhered to
  • Coordinate and audit all required site-specific training
  • Ensure monthly Operational Health & Safety reports are completed and submitted
  • Provide direction, assistance and leadership during emergencies
  • Implement shift scheduling and shift relief as required, and complete shift reports as required
  • Completing administrative duties as required
  • Supervising training of new Commissionaires onsite
  • Managing all security clearances for new employees  
  • Investigate and resolve complaints/concerns from employees, clients and/or the public involving CNS' services
  • Preparing reports relating to personnel management issues
  • Manage security and safety of personnel visits by maintenance staff and contractors  
  • Participate in OHS meetings 

  

Candidates must:

 

  • Be aged 19 or older
  • Not have a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted
  • Be able to provide fingerprints and complete a criminal record check
  • Be eligible to obtain a Government of Canada, and other site specific, personnel security clearances
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English
  • Hold a valid, unrestricted Nova Scotia driver's license

 

Qualifications and Skills

The incumbent must demonstrate experience with the following key qualifications, skills, and attributes:

  • Proven experience in security operations or site management, preferably in an airport or similarly complex environment.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Experience in scheduling, recruitment, and performance management.
  • Familiarity with airport operations and regulatory compliance is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions under pressure, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Advanced leadership/management experience  
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain composure and exercise sound judgement and decision making during emergency or high-stress situations
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent coaching, negotiating, and mentoring abilities
