Le technicien en contrôle des satellites (TCS) relève du Superviseur des opérations satellites (SSO) et joue un rôle essentiel dans l’exploitation et la maintenance des systèmes satellitaires. Ce poste implique l’exploitation des systèmes de télémesure, poursuite et télécommande en temps réel, la surveillance de l’état des satellites, l’envoi de commandes ainsi que le soutien à l’identification et à la résolution des anomalies.

Responsabilités

  • Effectuer les opérations planifiées en temps réel des satellites et des systèmes TT&C conformément aux procédures approuvées
  • Réaliser les tests de préparation avant passage (configuration des équipements, validation des flux de données et de commandes)
  • Exécuter les passes satellites incluant les commandes, la vérification de la télémesure et le téléchargement des données
  • Effectuer les activités après passage (transfert de fichiers, déconfiguration des équipements, consignation des événements)
  • Effectuer la lecture et l’analyse des données de télémesure en orbite
  • Surveiller les anomalies et les dépassements de limites (en temps réel et en différé)
  • Développer, maintenir et valider les procédures opérationnelles
  • Appuyer les équipes d’ingénierie dans le développement et l’amélioration des procédures manuelles et automatisées
  • Initier des actions correctives en cas de problèmes procéduraux
  • Examiner les produits opérationnels (quotidiens, hebdomadaires et replanifiés)
  • S’assurer que les instructions spéciales sont correctement intégrées aux opérations
  • Soutenir et diriger les activités de récupération d’anomalies lorsque requis
  • Effectuer la maintenance quotidienne des postes de travail
  • Produire des rapports de perte de données conformément aux procédures
  • Fournir un soutien opérationnel aux équipes internes et aux intervenants externes autorisés
  • Maintenir les protocoles de sécurité et signaler tout accès non autorisé
  • Effectuer toute autre tâche connexe dans le cadre du posteQualifications
  • Diplôme d’études postsecondaires en électronique, informatique ou dans un domaine connexe
  • Excellente maîtrise du français et de l’anglais, à l’oral et à l’écrit
  • Connaissance des systèmes de communication RF (atout)
  • Connaissance des systèmes de contrôle informatisés (atout)
  • Expérience ou familiarité avec les opérations spatiales (atout)

Position Overview

The Satellite Control Technician (SCT) is responsible to the Supervisor, Satellite Operations (SSO) and plays a critical role in the operation and maintenance of satellite systems. This position involves operating telemetry, tracking, and command systems in a real-time environment, monitoring satellite health, transmitting commands, and supporting anomaly identification and recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled real-time satellite and TT&C operations in accordance with approved procedures
  • Conduct pre-pass readiness tests (equipment configuration, command and data flow validation)
  • Execute satellite passes including command operations, telemetry verification, and data downloads
  • Complete post-pass activities such as file transfers, equipment deconfiguration, and event logging
  • Perform on-orbit telemetry playback and analysis
  • Monitor telemetry for anomalies and limit violations (real-time and stored data)
  • Develop, maintain, and validate operational procedures
  • Support engineering teams in developing and improving manual and automated procedures
  • Initiate corrective actions for procedural issues
  • Review operational products (daily, weekly, and re-planned schedules)
  • Ensure special instructions are incorporated into operational activities
  • Support and direct anomaly recovery operations when required
  • Perform daily workstation maintenance
  • Generate data loss reports in accordance with procedures
  • Provide operational support to internal teams and authorized external stakeholders
  • Maintain security protocols and report unauthorized access
  • Perform other duties as required within the scope of the roleQualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Strong proficiency in spoken and written English
  • French language skills are considered an asset
  • Knowledge or experience in RF communication systems is an asset
  • Knowledge of computer-based control systems is an asset
  • Familiarity with space operations environments is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
