About the Opportunity

Altis Recruitment is partnering with a respected organization in the broader public sector to hire an Abilities Lead. In this role, you will support programs that directly impact employee wellbeing, ensuring individuals receive the care, accommodations, and guidance they need to succeed at work.

 

You will work closely with HR leaders, business partners, and health and safety teams, playing a key role in managing disability claims and return-to-work programs. This is a collaborative, people-first environment where your expertise will help shape positive outcomes for employees across the organization.

 

This role is open to all qualified candidates; however, preference may be given to individuals who identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis and or/have experience working with First Nations, Inuit or Métis communities. The final hiring decision will be based on merit.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll manage the intake and progression of disability claims, including STD, LTD, and workers’ compensation cases
  • In this role, you’ll coordinate return-to-work and gradual reintegration plans with HR Business Partners and leaders
  • You’ll review and implement workplace accommodations, including ergonomic adjustments and flexible work arrangements
  • You’ll collaborate with HR and Occupational Health and Safety teams to ensure consistent and supportive case management
  • You’ll apply disability management best practices across unionized and non-unionized environments

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in disability management, claims, and workplace accommodations
  • Strong expertise in return-to-work planning and case management for STD, LTD, and WSBC
  • Experience working with HR systems such as PeopleSoft and workplace health databases
  • Solid understanding of disability management principles in complex organizational settings
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and empathetic approach
  • Experience working with First Nations, Inuit, or Métis communities is considered an asset
