We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Business Systems Analyst to join our dynamic team. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver transformative and impactful digital solutions.

Join the Marketing Technology team to support the evolution of personalization utilizing data from Admin systems, Data Lake, Customer Data Platform and Marketo.

This role offers a dynamic opportunity to collaborate with various partners to elicit and understand business needs. The Data Business Systems Analyst (BSA) will act as a key liaison between business and technology, translating data specifications into actionable technical requirements and ensuring successful delivery of system functionalities and product development.

Office location: Boston - USA (primary), Toronto - Canada (alternative)

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days from home; Remote working arrangement is not available;

Position Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Product Owners, Engineers, Data Architects, Marketing Operations, and cross-functional business partners to define Epics, Features, and detailed User Stories that support digital marketing, customer engagement, and data activation capabilities.

  • Translate marketing strategy, customer experience requirements, and preference/consent policies into clear technical requirements, data models, and system integrations across the MarTech ecosystem.

  • Collaborate with engineering and QA teams to develop and execute test strategies, acceptance criteria, and test plans to validate data flows, customer journeys, audience segmentation logic, and system enhancements.

  • Lead test planning and execution across system, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing, ensuring accuracy of customer data, segmentation, and campaign orchestration outcomes.

  • Analyze complex data transformations, audience logic, customer lifecycle rules, and platform configurations to identify issues, diagnose root causes, and recommend scalable solutions.

  • Work closely with internal technology teams and external vendors to ensure MarTech platforms integrate seamlessly with enterprise data sources, CRM systems, and analytics environments.

  • Support customer data governance in alignment with enterprise data and technology strategy.

  • Manage multiple initiatives concurrently across marketing, data, and engineering teams—navigating ambiguity with a customer-centric, data-driven mindset.

  • Create and maintain documentation for data mapping flows, technical designs, business rules, MarTech configurations, and release deliverables to ensure transparency and maintainability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of modern Marketing Technology ecosystems, including customer data management, audience segmentation, preference/consent management, and digital activation platforms.

  • Minimum 5 + Years of Experience in Marketing, Insurance or Banking and Financial sectors.

  • 5–6 years of progressive business analysis experience supporting medium to large-sized projects.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, including backlog refinement, user story development, and sprint delivery.

  • Proficiency in systems analysis, data analysis, systems design, and testing methodologies; ability to translate business marketing goals into technical workflows and data requirements.

  • Data Lineage: Mapping data from operational databases to key business applications (front-end)

  • Data Analysis: "Reading" a database to look for common data points to find logical points and requirements for logic and necessary joints between flat RDBMS tables

  • SQL Proficiency: Complex joins, window functions, CTEs, aggregation, set operations, and performance considerations.

  • Relational Database Skills: Indexing, transactions, isolation levels, partitioning, and query optimization basics.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, JIRA, and MarTech/AdTech-related tools; SQL or data profiling experience is highly desired.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to support multiple concurrent projects across marketing and technology domains.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to align data, engineering, and marketing stakeholders across geographically dispersed teams.

  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage emerging technologies including Generative AI to enhance requirements development, data analysis, documentation, and marketing workflow optimization.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to the pace and evolution of digital marketing and data platforms.

  • Awareness of organizational dynamics, informal networks, and cross-functional dependencies that influence marketing and data outcomes.

  • Proven ability to lead analysis efforts, mentor junior analysts, and influence cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.

  • Foundational knowledge of system design, data mapping and testing processes.

Salary range is expected to be between

$107,450.00 USD - $199,550.00 USD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
