The Office of the Auditor General undertakes independent, objective financial, compliance and performance audits of City departments, local Boards of the City, municipally-controlled corporations, grant recipients and any other agencies, boards, commissions and corporations as City Council may create or identify, to add value to the City and improve the City’s programs/services. Audits are professionally conducted to assist Council by bringing a systematic, unbiased approach designed to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. The Office of the Auditor General also administers the Fraud and Waste Hotline and co-ordinates fraud investigation activities with City Programs or City Agencies, Boards and Commissions at the Office’s discretion.
You provide a broad range of assurance and investigative services to of all Departments and the Corporation, in order to improve operations, add value for money and promote the achievement of the corporate vision in meeting the needs of management and City Council. You complete assignments of moderate size and complexity, including major and complex elements of comprehensive audits and investigations, working as project lead, part of a team and/or independently. You develop results and recommendations and provide expert advice to assist clients in the identification and implementation of improvements to strategic/operational planning, business processes, organizational design, change management, performance measurement, quality assurance, risk management, controllership and to related policies and procedures.
Completion of 4 year university degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
Minimum of 6 years of internal audit experience.
Other relevant experience includes: program evaluation, performance measurement monitoring, business process design or re-engineering, investigating, and/or external audit.
