As an Electrical Specialist – Ship Repair you will be responsible for preparing complete engineering information packages for electrical repair work. The incumbent will conduct onboard inspections, validate technical requirements, coordinate with production, planning, and procurement teams, and ensure compliance with maritime standards and client specifications. More specifically, you will:
o Prepare and validate complete work instructions, sketches, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical data for electrical repair activities.
o Interpret client specifications and translate them into actionable, sequenced work packages.
o Conduct detailed onboard surveys to identify existing electrical equipment, installation conditions, and required modifications.
o Manage and update electrical engineering BOMs, and communicate material needs to the Planning and Procurement Departments.
o Provide technical support to production staff and participate in onboard troubleshooting.
o Support testing and commissioning procedures in collaboration with reactivation teams.
o Contribute to project estimates, scheduling, and progress monitoring.
o Participate in standardization initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Requirements
o Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a DCS with 4–6 years of relevant experience.
o Strong knowledge of shipboard electrical systems and maritime standards.
o Experience preparing technical drawings, sketches, and engineering deliverables.
o Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, load lists, and equipment manuals.
o Proficiency in MS Office.
o AutoCAD experience, an asset.
o Familiarity with engineering databases or ERP systems, an asset.
o Familiarity with vessel electrical and piping systems.
o Experience working with AVEVA Marine, Engineering, and ERM systems, an asset.
o AutoCAD experience, an asset.
o Autonomy and accountability.
o Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
o Effective communication and coordination across departments.
o Ability to adapt to changing production environments.
o Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken). Fluency in English is required for this position, as you will interact with English-speaking suppliers, stakeholders or clients.
o Successful completion of the security screening process and obtainment of the required security clearance under the Federal Government’s Contract Security Program (minimum of 5 years of residency in Canada, with no interruption of 6 consecutive months.)
