Job Description:

Note: These are part-time temporary Faculty positions. Start and end dates to be determined.

Note: This position is located at 1001 Fanshawe College Blvd London, ON N5V 1W2.

The Lawrence Kinlin School of Business is looking to build a pool of applicants to fill vacancies as they arise, support succession planning, and expand our current part-time faculty team. Having fresh ideas and diverse experience is essential to ensuring our programs remain vibrant and aligned with industry needs and student success.

We require faculty qualified to teach at the introductory through advanced levels across the following areas:

  • Business Mathematics (arithmetic, algebra, applied problem solving)
  • Mathematics of Finance (time value of money, interest, annuities, bonds)
  • Quantitative decision-making and financial analysis
  • Business Statistics and Data Analysis
  • Quantitative methods for business decision-making

Courses may include:

A Part-time Professor at Fanshawe College is responsible for providing academic leadership and creating an effective learning environment for students. Successful candidates will teach within the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business and will be required to work within Ontario and be available to teach on campus, as required. Faculty play a key role in helping students develop strong quantitative, analytical, and decision-making skills essential for success in business, finance, and related fields.

What You’ll Bring

Education

A bachelor’s degree in one of the following (or closely related field):

  • Mathematics
  • Applied Mathematics
  • Statistics
  • Actuarial Science
  • Mathematical Finance / Financial Mathematics
  • Economics (with strong quantitative focus)
  • Engineering (with strong mathematics background)

A master’s or PhD in a related field is considered a strong asset and is preferred for teaching advanced courses, particularly in:

  • Business Statistics
  • Quantitative Methods
  • Financial Decision-Making
  • Data Analysis and Modeling
  • Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) designation or equivalent teaching credential is considered an asset

Candidates with graduate-level qualifications (Master’s or PhD) will be prioritized for teaching higher-level courses involving statistical analysis, regression modeling, time series, and financial decision-making.

Professional & Teaching Experience

  • Minimum of three years of relevant professional and/or teaching experience
  • Experience teaching or applying concepts such as:
    • Algebra and foundational mathematics
    • Time value of money, annuities, and financial calculations
    • Cost-volume-profit analysis
    • Net present value (NPV) and internal rate of return (IRR)
    • Statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and regression
    • Time series analysis and/or statistical quality control
    • Previous college or post-secondary teaching experience is an asset

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong communication and instructional skills, with the ability to explain quantitative concepts clearly to diverse learners, including non-math majors
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and academic excellence
  • Ability to connect mathematical and statistical concepts to real-world business applications
  • Experience with curriculum development and student evaluation is an asset
  • Strong technical/computer skills, including:
    • Microsoft Excel (required)
    • Experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, Python, or similar) is strongly preferred
    • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Brightspace, Moodle) is an asset
