Reporting to the Operations Engineer, the Development and Planning Technologist (DPT) determines and enforces setback requirements for developments; exercises access management in conditionally approving subdivisions; outlines conditions of permits issued for paralleling and crossing utilities; presents the Department's position in the application and interpretation of the relevant parts of the Acts, Legislations and Regulations surrounding the protection of the highway corridors thereby preventing unnecessary future costs associated with improvements to the highway system, due to unregulated development and minimizes the Department's exposure to risk of litigation.
