The Appeals Secretariat plays a vital role in supporting a fair and accessible appeal process for over 4,000 Albertans each year. We administer appeals for programs and services delivered by the ministries of Assisted Living and Social Services (ALSS), Children and Family Services (CFS), Education and Childcare (EC), Primary and Preventative Health Services (PPHS), and Mental Health and Addiction (MHA). The Citizen’s Appeal Panel (CAP) hears appeals from Albertans about services they have applied for or are currently receiving.
Our work ensures Albertans have a meaningful avenue to challenge decisions that affect their lives, well‑being and access to essential supports. If you are a self‑starter who can adapt quickly, work proactively in a fast‑paced environment and values integrity, fairness and public service, this is an opportunity to make a real impact.
Why Join Us?
If you thrive in a dynamic environment, enjoy solving complex problems and want your work to have real impact, this is the place for you. The Appeals Secretariat offers the best of both worlds: meaningful public service work paired with opportunities to innovate, lead and shape how appeal services are delivered across the province. You will work with a supportive leadership team and contribute to improvements that enhance the appeal experience for Albertans. You will be part of a team that values creativity, initiative and adaptability, and you will have opportunities to grow your skills, expand your leadership capacity and help drive positive change.
As the Appeals Operations Coordinator, you will lead and support front‑line appeal operations across the province. Reporting to the Manager, Appeals Operations, you will supervise Appeals Assistants, coordinate logistics and scheduling for appeal hearings, support Appeal Panel members and ensure the efficient and effective delivery of administrative functions that are vital to the appeal process.
This position is well suited to someone who is highly organized, nimble, comfortable with technology and able to pivot quickly as priorities change. You will play a critical part in maintaining operational readiness, supporting the systems essential to appeal management and ensuring Albertans receive timely, accurate and respectful information about their appeal.
You will work closely with the Manager, Appeals Operations, in a collaborative environment where initiative, continuous improvement and strong communication are encouraged.
This position also offers opportunities to further develop leadership capability while overseeing province‑wide appeal operations.
The work of the Appeals Operations Coordinator is fast‑paced and varies significantly from day to day, which makes it an excellent role for someone who wants to work in a complex environment with diverse operational responsibilities.
