Your Opportunity
Our Construction Inspectors support the clients’ goals during the construction phase of a development project to ensure cost, schedule and quality standards are met for the project. In this role, you will work independently in construction observation/inspection in a variety of projects under the supervision of a senior Inspector. Your technical knowledge and team-focused approach will enhance our mission to set the standard in our field for exceptional client service and professional excellence, as we grow to better serve clients, communities and provide greater opportunities for employees.
Your Key Responsibilities
Assists in inspecting and reviewing projects during construction, monitoring conformance with plans, specifications, and other codes and regulations.
Assists in monitoring the progress of construction activities, ensuring cost, schedule and quality standards are met.
Begins communicating with and making recommendations to Project Manager, design professionals, client, owner, developer, or contractor, but does not direct the means or methods of construction.
Provides the Project Manager with updates on project progress or delays to client, design professionals, and/or contractor.
Reviews change orders and field orders for reasonableness of pricing and constructability.
Assists in obtaining necessary permits and licenses for timely opening of site.
Completes preliminary review of plans, specifications, requests for information, submittals, construction schedules, shop drawings and pay applications (QA/QC).
Prepares preliminary documents and maintains file management of project-related information including correspondence, reports, and pictures.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Working knowledge of local, state and federal building codes, construction principles, techniques and procedures, occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the project team, obtaining and sharing necessary information.
Strong organizational skills and understanding of task assignment and schedule.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
Working knowledge of critical path method scheduling.
Education and Experience
Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and construction experience. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience.
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for transportation to construction sites.
Position will primarily consist of field work. Some work will be in an office setting.

Pay Range:
• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$53,100.00 - $71,700.00 Annually
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
