Senior Sourcing Manager – Business Transformation & Outsourcing (BTO)
Role Purpose
Lead enterprise‑wide sourcing, outsourcing, and demand management strategies that enable BMO’s business transformation agenda. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, driving value, innovation, and risk‑managed outcomes across complex sourcing categories, while anticipating future workforce and operating model shifts driven by automation, AI, and global labor dynamics.
Strategic Sourcing & Business Advisory
- Partner with business and functional leaders to develop and execute innovative sourcing, outsourcing, and demand management strategies aligned to enterprise strategy, cost objectives, and risk appetite.
- Provide strategic consulting on sourcing frameworks, deal structuring, commercial models, and supplier negotiations for high‑value and complex initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, making recommendations on business priorities, resourcing, roadmaps, and new initiatives based on deep business understanding.
- Contribute to enterprise strategic planning by identifying emerging market, procurement, and outsourcing trends and translating them into actionable insights.
Transformation, Outsourcing & Future of Work
- Collaborate with businesses to transform operating models through digitally enabled solutions, including RPA, SaaS, process optimization, and Artificial Intelligence.
- Anticipate and respond to Ambition 2030 workforce shifts, including GenAI, Agentic AI, and evolving sourcing and labor location models, to reshape how work is performed.
- Act as a core member of outsourcing design teams, advising on deal sizing, target‑state operating models, geopolitical risk, and global location strategies.
- Maintain and evolve transformation outsourcing playbooks, commercial models, and contractual frameworks.
Category Strategy & Execution
- Develop and direct category management frameworks and sourcing strategies across assigned portfolios, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives.
- Lead end‑to‑end execution of sourcing initiatives, including RFIs/RFPs, supplier evaluation and selection, contract negotiation, renewal, and termination.
- Identify and implement demand management, cost reduction, innovation, and value‑creation opportunities throughout the supplier lifecycle.
- Conduct market and spend analysis, build business cases, and assess ROI to inform strategic recommendations.
Risk Management, Governance & Insights
- Develop sourcing and supplier risk mitigation strategies aligned to business and regulatory requirements, including OSR frameworks and due diligence.
- Maintain centralized reporting and intelligence on outsourcing initiatives, supplier performance, and concentration risk to support executive decision‑making.
- Define business requirements for analytics and reporting to ensure data‑driven insights inform planning, investment, and risk decisions.
- Act as a subject matter expert on relevant procurement, outsourcing, and regulatory policies.
Stakeholder, Supplier & Change Leadership
- Build and sustain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, aligning sourcing strategies to business needs and expectations.
- Influence, negotiate, and lead complex supplier engagements to achieve optimal commercial, operational, and risk outcomes.
- Lead change management initiatives, including readiness, transition planning, stakeholder engagement, execution, and sustainment.
- Network externally to bring best practices and market intelligence into the Bank.
Program & Operational Excellence
- Manage multiple sourcing and transformation programs simultaneously, ensuring disciplined execution, clear governance, and performance tracking.
- Apply procurement policies, methodologies, and leading practices to ensure consistency, compliance, and quality of outcomes.
- Develop tools, training, and standards; assess effectiveness and recommend enhancements to continuously improve sourcing and procurement capabilities.
- Operate at an enterprise level as a specialist resource, applying judgment and creativity to solve complex, ambiguous, and non‑routine challenges.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- 7+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or management consulting, preferably within Financial Services or Technology environments.
- Post‑secondary degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Seasoned professional with demonstrated enterprise‑level judgment, industry knowledge, and advisory capability.
Sourcing, Procurement & Financial Expertise
- Expert knowledge of end‑to‑end sourcing and procurement processes, controls, systems, and leading practices, with a strong emphasis on large, complex deals.
- Deep experience in supplier negotiations, commercial structuring, and cost/financial management.
- In‑depth understanding of regulatory, risk, and compliance requirements impacting sourcing and outsourcing in Financial Services.
- Strong familiarity with sourcing and procurement technologies and analytics tools.
Strategy, Analysis & Decision Support
- In‑depth expertise in business analysis, project delivery, and lifecycle management practices.
- Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to synthesize insights from multiple research, data, and market sources.
- Strong Excel and quantitative modeling skills; highly data‑driven approach to decision‑making.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, prioritize, and mitigate financial, operational, and supplier risks.
Leadership, Influence & Collaboration
- Expert verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Proven influencing and negotiation skills in highly matrixed, cross‑functional environments.
- Strong collaboration and relationship‑management capabilities, with a focus on enterprise‑wide stakeholder alignment.
- Ability to operate effectively under ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and adapt to shifting business and market conditions.
$94,600.00 - $176,000.00
Salaried
The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
