The Executive Director, Strategic Procurement, is the executive lead and change champion tasked with both leading the strategic procurement function for the Government of Alberta and the Project Management Office (PMO). As the executive lead, the Executive Director is required to provide enterprise change management leadership across government that will advance policies and practices supporting and accelerating the adoption of procurement related recommendations and leading the PMO to advance an enterprise procurement solution leveraging 1GX ERP system. They will also oversee the development and implementation of business process redesign metrics to enhance accountability, compliance, and ultimately improve procurement practices to drive value, assurance, and support the speed of business.
Success in this role calls for a progressive leader with a background including significant related senior management leadership experience within a service-orientated organization, combined with strengths in strategy development and implementation. You bring a strong systems thinking lens, an understanding of policy and legislation, as well as issues management to the role. You have demonstrated broad career experience with diverse purchasing, supply chain management and materials management in a large and diverse environment, and possess extensive knowledge of tendering law, supported by both academic and practical experience in procurement and supply chain management systems. Your experience also includes in-depth knowledge of procurement, domestic and international trade agreements, purchasing and acquisition services, procurement and payment tools, IT Enterprise solutions, and contracted services. Ability to lead and manage change, as well as negotiate innovative solutions to complex and diverse issues and challenges, is essential for success in this role.
Your exceptional communication skills and influence will ensure strong networks and relationships with complex stakeholders and partners. You have a high degree of political acuity, are agile, and solutions oriented. A respected leader with experience developing staff, you are committed to building strong lines of communication and trust, as well as empowering your teams to achieve results through performance excellence. A four-year bachelor’s degree is required.
