Accuracy Specialist

As an Accuracy Specialist, you ensures the dimensional integrity of structures, systems, and assemblies throughout all phases of ship repair/construction, from initial design through final integration. This role focuses on maintaining geometric accuracy between digital models, manufacturing processes, and as-built conditions to minimize rework, ensure proper fit-up, and achieve the highest standards of build quality. More specifically, you will:


•    Perform 3D dimensional inspections using laser trackers, total stations to verify accuracy of structures, blocks, and modules.
•    Establish and maintain shipyard coordinate systems, datums, and reference points.
•    Support alignment and fit-up activities of major components (e.g., hull blocks, shafts, foundations, modules).
•    Analyze and interpret measurement data, prepare detailed inspection reports, and communicate deviations to engineering and production teams. 
•    Collaborate with design and production engineers to prevent dimensional conflicts and optimize fabrication sequences.
•    Contribute to the development of Accuracy Control Plans (ACP) and Inspection and Test Plans (ITP).
•    Use and manage 3D metrology software (e.g., PolyWorks, Spatial Analyzer or similar).
•    Maintain traceability of measurements and ensure calibration of metrology instruments.

Requirements:
•    Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Naval Architecture, Metrology, or a related technical field.
•    Minimum: 3–5 years of experience in a precision measurement or dimensional control role within a heavy industrial or shipbuilding environment.
•    Familiarity with naval or marine engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
•    Experience supporting production, fabrication, and outfitting teams in a shipyard.
•    Proficiency in 3D metrology software and CAD interpretation.
•    Participate in developing best practices for accuracy control, measurement methods, and tolerancing.
•    Train production and quality personnel on dimensional accuracy principles and procedures.
•    Strong communication and teamwork abilities; capable of bridging engineering and production disciplines.
•    Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken). Fluency in English is required for this position, as you will interact with English-speaking suppliers, stakeholders or clients.
