Rail Systems Branch provides oversight of the maintenance contractors which includes corrective and planned maintenance, life cycle management, trending, and analysis within Transit Engineering Services. The oversight includes both diesel and electric rail vehicles, track and infrastructure, stations, systems, and overall maintenance planning.
You are responsible for taking a lead role in providing professional engineering advice
and expertise. This can include but is not limited to monitoring, evaluating, auditing, and reviewing the performance of the rail system structures, civil infrastructure, and supporting assets across OC Transpo’s rail networks. Your role involves overseeing the development of quality metrics to assess the integrity of performance, asset conditions, and compliance with engineering standards and regulations. Additionally, you provide expert advice to both management and technical teams on structural maintenance and repair strategies.
You will review technical analyses, and support design submissions, and lead the tendering process for upgrades and new installations. You are also responsible for managing audits of rail and supporting structures and leading capital improvement projects. As the primary point of contact for all technical issues, you track, analyze, and report on the reliability of structure maintenance and lifecycle, addressing concerns related to all infrastructure assets.
You will provide project management services; you oversee both in-house and external resources for major infrastructure projects. You are responsible for monitoring and reporting project status, approving expenditures, and coordinating any necessary testing related to these projects.
Completion of a 4-year university degree in Civil Engineering.
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible and practical experience in relevant engineering fields, with through knowledge of infrastructure system design, construction, and operation.
Experience in railway or mass transit sectors relating to infrastructure engineering, maintenance, and operation, testing and commissioning, overhaul planning, life cycle planning, and reliability improvement programs for new and existing rail systems is an asset.
