JOB SUMMARY

You are responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of strategic projects/programs and initiatives.  You liaise with the assigned service area, department and/or community group(s) to undertake collaborative and inclusive community engagement and development activities; contribute to the service area’s public engagement plans and program-specific communications plans; and write, edit, and coordinate the design of outreach materials and content intended for public distribution. You also support the planning and execution of public events.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 4 year university degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration, Public Relations or related field.

Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience working in a large organization, with demonstrated experience in areas relating to community development, project management, community involvement, events planning or promotional activities.

KNOWLEDGE

  • General knowledge of the Corporation, departmental and service area business requirements, policies and organizational structure
  • Legislation, policies, regulations, guidelines and operational procedures relevant to the operational area
  • Community and social policy issues and trends
  • Communication processes
  • Principles and techniques of project management 
  • Public engagement/consultation concepts, practices and issues 
  • Group facilitation skills
  • Community development principles, community dynamics and involvement 
  • Customer service delivery and skills
  • Protocols for developing submissions, writing briefings, reports
  • Knowledge of computer applications-Microsoft Office suite, social media and SAP
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

  • Possess strong existing computer skills, database/tracking skills with ability to use Microsoft Office suite applications 
  • Possess strong and effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills 
  • Able to prepare reports, information packages, promotional materials, presentation materials, and correspondence in an organized, clear and concise manner
  • Able to concentrate/focus on accuracy and detail

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Language Requirement: Designated Bilingual – specific level of language proficiency: French: oral, reading, writing English: oral, reading, writing Candidates who do not meet language requirements will be required to participate in training.       
  • Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
