Ready to suit up as a Security Guard

What matters most in this role is your ability to stay alert, follow strict security protocols, and ensure the safe movement of personnel within restricted airport areas. Your strong observation skills, attention to detail, and professionalism will be essential in maintaining a secure environment at the airport.

As an Airport Security Guard / Escort, you will be responsible for escorting authorized individuals within restricted zones, monitoring access points, and ensuring full compliance with airport and federal security regulations. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-security environment.

  • 8 hr. shifts available, Mon – Fri, with some weekend work on occasion.

Responsibilities for Security Guard

  • Provide security escort services to SJIAA personnel and tenants, primarily supporting construction-related activities

  • Perform Apron 1 inspections while enforcing all Transport Canada (TC) and Airport Authority (AA) regulations

  • Issue AVOP (Airside Vehicle Operator Permit) tickets for infractions

  • Conduct routine fence line inspections to ensure perimeter security

  • Complete groundside inspections as required, including parking areas

  • Perform terminal front patrols and enforcement duties as needed

  • Control access points to restricted areas of the airport

  • Respond to designated staging areas during emergency situations

Qualifications for Security Guard

  • Must be authorized to work in Canada
  • Valid Criminal Record Check 
  • Must be able to obtain a RAIC (Restricted Area Identity Card) and Transport Canada (TC) security clearance in a timely manner
  • Must be able to obtain an AVOP (Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit) in a timely manner
  • Basic First Aid certification
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Current RAIC and/or Transport Canada security clearance considered an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
