Location: Pickering, Ontario, Hybrid, 2 days onsite per week
Language: Advanced written and spoken English required
Duration: 9-month contract

You will play a key role in managing employee leave cases and supporting return-to-work processes that directly impact employee wellbeing and organizational effectiveness.

Working closely with a collaborative People and Culture team, you will act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees navigating complex leave and accommodation scenarios. This is a hands-on role where your expertise in disability management and unionized environments will help create fair, consistent, and supportive outcomes.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll manage end-to-end employee leave cases, including STD, accommodations, and return-to-work planning

  • In this role, you’ll triage requests through a ticketing system and guide managers through appropriate processes

  • You’ll coordinate medical documentation, liaise with advisors, and ensure all required information is collected

  • You’ll develop and implement tailored return-to-work plans based on medical restrictions and business needs

  • You’ll collaborate with union representatives during return-to-work discussions and accommodations

  • You’ll maintain accurate records and track cases using internal systems, ensuring compliance and reporting


Skills and Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of HR experience, with a strong focus on disability and leave management

  • Experience working in a unionized environment and participating in return-to-work processes

  • Strong knowledge of accommodation practices, medical leaves, and related legislation

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to guide and coach managers

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage a large volume of cases

  • Experience with HR systems such as SAP is considered an asset
