The Public Service Commission (PSC) provides human resources (HR) services to the Government of Alberta (GOA). It leads to the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and programs that ensure Alberta has a professional, non-partisan, diverse, inclusive public service that proudly service Albertans. Role Responsibilities

If so, the Public Service Commission is looking for an Accommodations & Administrative Services Coordinator.


This position leads a team that is responsible to provide accommodation and administrative services for PSC and ensures that department staff have space, equipment and access to administrative supports to perform their duties. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising the delivery of a broad range of technical and administrative services such as: accommodation planning, facility renovations, facility management, security, surplus, access cards, furniture, telecommunications (VoIP and mobile), and office equipment services. This requires extensive collaboration and liaison with staff, client business units, representatives of other departments (Infrastructure, Service Alberta) and multiple public and private sector service providers to ensure the services are delivered in an efficient and effective manner. On specific projects/initiatives, or on escalated issues, the position works directly with executive leadership including Assistant Deputy Ministers and the Deputy Minister's office.

 

What You’ll Do
Accommodation Planning
•    Lead accommodation projects, from space planning to move execution.
•    Manage inventory and allocation of office space.
•    Consult with internal clients, building management, and Alberta Infrastructure to ensure functional, safe, and policy aligned spaces.
•    Track, document, and validate accommodation needs across the department.
•    Ensure all accommodation projects meet OH&S requirements.
Tenant Improvement & Facility Services
•    Oversee planning and implementation of tenant improvement projects.
•    Monitor project compliance, approvals, and completion.
•    Ensure effective facility management services across all PSC locations.
•    Serve as the point of contact for tenant service requests, maintenance concerns, and building issues.
Emergency Management & Business Continuity
•    Act as Facility Emergency Response Coordinator (FERC) for Peace Hills Trust Tower.
•    Lead the Facility Emergency Response Program, including planning, training, and exercises.
•    Support business continuity planning and incident response across PSC.
•    Respond to facility emergencies such as power outages, floods, or alarms.
Telecommunications & Administrative Services
•    Coordinate telecom services (VoIP and mobile devices), including procurement, changes, and issue resolution.
•    Analyze usage and implement cost reduction strategies.
•    Oversee mail, courier, print services, office equipment, and surplus processes.
•    Support parking coordination and resolve escalated or sensitive parking issues.

Security & Access Management
•    Administer and audit access cards across multiple Edmonton buildings.
•    Report and respond to security incidents in partnership with Infrastructure, property management, and law enforcement.
•    Ensure compliance with policies related to data security, surplus, and working alone.
Leadership & Strategic Support
•    Lead, develop, and mentor the accommodations and administrative team.
•    Manage escalated issues and ensure effective workflow, service delivery, and staff support.
•    Provide strategic advice to senior leaders, including preparing briefings and responses to executive requests.
•    Lead or support special projects that drive efficiency, cost savings, and improved service delivery.

Qualifications

Minimum Recruitment Standards: One-year certificate in Design or Fine Arts or a related field, plus two of years related experience. Two year diploma in Design or Fine Arts.


Equivalency:
Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education, or one year of education for one year of experience.
•    A two-year Diploma plus one year of related experience.


Job Requirement:
•    Creative problem‑solving skills with the ability to develop practical, innovative solutions in complex or constrained environments.
•    Strong stakeholder engagement abilities, including experience working with a diverse group of internal and external partners to build consensus and deliver results.
•    Ability to work independently, exercising sound judgment and initiative while balancing day‑to‑day operations with longer-term planning needs.
•    Strong leadership and management skills, including supervising a direct report and providing coaching, guidance, and performance support.

•    Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects simultaneously.

•    OH&S courses/certification.
•    Proficiency in the use of various software products (i.e. MS Office, BLIMS, WORTS, OPRA, etc.).
