Classification: Executive Manager 1
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister of Strategic and Integrated Services Division, the Executive Director (ED) of Corporate and Emergency Services provides strategic direction and leadership on key corporate services, including business planning, accommodations, and emergency management. The position is also accountable for transportation management and incident response, including Environmental and Dangerous Goods Emergencies (EDGE) and Alberta 511.
The ED works collaboratively with other leaders across the department to build capacity in project management, strengthening planning, effectiveness, and operational efficiency for the department. In addition, the ED provides leadership, consultation, advice, and assurance to build capacity within the ministry in strategic planning, engagement and consultation, and performance measurement and reporting.
The ED is relied upon to lead, influence, coordinate, and integrate policy, strategic planning, and program delivery across diverse functional areas. This includes close collaboration with senior ministry, government, and private sector representatives to develop recommendations and solutions in areas where there is often minimal precedent. The ED also leads and directs high-quality, innovative programs within a complex environment, including shared responsibility for legislation and governance.
This position requires excellent judgment and strong diplomacy given the politically sensitive nature of the information managed. The ED must recognize and balance conflicting perspectives, requirements, and priorities of various groups while leading them toward consensus on complex and diverse issues.

Cross-ministry experience is essential. You demonstrate high political acuity, agility, and are solutions oriented. The challenges faced by this position require superior analytic evaluative, and problem-solving skills. As an experienced and respected leader, you are committed to empowering your teams to achieve results through performance excellence. You maintain a strategic focus while leading the development and implementation of initiatives, frameworks, agreements, and best practices.
A bachelor’s degree (4-year program) is preferred, and equivalencies will be considered.
Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening.
