BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The Wealth Manager is a senior, non‑registered relationship manager and trusted advisor to high‑net‑worth (HNW) and ultra‑high‑net‑worth (UHNW) clients. This role delivers holistic wealth management solutions aligned with clients’ short‑ and long‑term goals by representing the full Total Wealth offering and collaborating closely with the Centralized Registrant & Investment Advisory (CRIA) team, who will act as Registrant to all clients & prospects of the Wealth Manager.

 

The Wealth Manager builds deep client relationships through ongoing life‑based discovery, engages Scotia Wealth Management and banking partners as needed, and coordinates a multidisciplinary team of experts to deliver integrated client experience. The role focuses on acquiring new HNW/UHNW clients, deepening existing relationships, and managing a strong prospect pipeline to generate sustainable, profitable growth. The Wealth Manager operates in alignment with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, Global Sales Principles, and all regulatory and risk‑management requirements.

 

IS THIS ROLE RIGHT FOR YOU

In the role you will:

Business Development

  • Manage a growth plan that includes prospecting, networking, and deepening existing relationships.
  • Identify and attract new HNW/UHNW prospects and consolidate assets from existing clients.
  • Maintain a strong prospect pipeline and follow up on referral opportunities.
  • Represent SJF at community, professional, and industry events.
  • Collaborate with Wealth, Commercial, Retail, and other partners, including COIs, to identify new opportunities.
  • Working closely with Regional Director/Market Lead to analyze market opportunities and develop appropriate business development, referral and partner inclusive strategies.
  • Partnering with the Wealth Management Consultants in the business acquisition process.

 

Client Relationship Management

  • Build strong, long‑term relationships with HNW and UHNW clients.
  • Lead ongoing wealth conversations to understand clients’ goals, circumstances, and needs.
  • Coordinate with financial planning, investment, banking, and wealth specialists to deliver integrated advice.
  • Connect clients to the right experts and ensure their plans and strategies stay on track.
  • Look for opportunities to add value, solve problems proactively, and improve client experience.
  • Frequent review of book/client accounts to ensure optimal profitability is maintained in each relationship (Compliance, Fees, Investment Structure within parameters outlined in Clients Investment Policy Statement etc.) 

 

Wealth Strategy Support

  • Document the Life Discovery process in order to develop an in-depth understanding of client’s needs to support the( Central Registrant and Investment Advisory Team) CRIA teams’ recommended strategy and investment solutions based on the client’s needs, risk tolerance and short/medium- and long-term objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Centralized Investment Management team who will execute upon defined investment management processes and with the Central Registrant and Investment Advisory Team (CRIA) to communicate advice to clients on their investment portfolio.
  • Help shape long‑term wealth strategies and keep clients informed and engaged.

 

Risk & Compliance

  • Follow all regulatory, compliance, and risk‑management guidelines.
  • Ensure client files, KYC, and documentation remain complete and accurate.
  • Identify and escalate unusual or suspicious activity as needed.

 

Team & Culture

DO YOU HAVE THE SKILLS

We would love to work with you if you have:

  • Post‑secondary education in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or related fields.
  • CSC required; CIM (or working toward CIM) strongly preferred.
  • Professional proficiency in French is strongly preferred.
  • Interest in pursuing CFA, Pl. Fin. (IQPF), and/or LLQP is an asset.
  • Experience working with HNW clients, wealth strategies, or investment concepts is an asset.
  • Strong communication, relationship management, and business‑development skills.
  • Ability to explain financial concepts clearly and build trust quickly.
  • Self‑motivated, goal‑oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional client experiences.

Additional Requirements

  • CIM must be completed within 24 months.
  • Must meet eligibility for registrant status with the securities commission.

In addition to French, the successful candidate must also have sufficient knowledge of English, as the work involves interacting and collaborating regularly with groups and individuals based in Toronto, as well as constantly interacting with other people, including clients, who speak English, locally and elsewhere.
