Calian is proud to continue a long-standing contractual relationship with the Department of National Defence (DND) to provide healthcare services to the Canadian Armed Forces. Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs health care professionals across Canada who are integral to supporting the health and wellbeing of our military members.

Position Overview

Calian is looking for a passionate and dedicated Physician Assistant to become a vital part of our healthcare team working at the Canadian Forces Health Services Centre located at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa, ON. This is an incredible opportunity to work alongside military healthcare professionals in a dynamic and rewarding environment, providing top-tier medical care to an active and motivated population of military personnel.

As a Physician Assistant, you will play a key role in the health and wellness of Canada’s military members. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of healthcare experts, including physicians, nurses, mental health specialists, and pharmacists, all focused on delivering exceptional care. Every day brings new and exciting challenges as you assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of health conditions, ensuring that our Armed Forces are ready and fit for duty.

Responsibilities

  • Periodic Health Assessments and perform routine medical screenings
  • Obtain medical/incident history; perform focused and comprehensive physical examinations,
  • Obtain and interpret routine diagnostic tests (such as CBC, chest x-ray and EKG)
  • Apply rapid intervention in the case of trauma and cardiac emergencies
  • Provide health promotion and illness prevention in the areas of basic public, occupational, mental and community health
  • Practice as a member of an interdisciplinary team and consults with members of other health professions as appropriate to ensure the healthcare needs of the patient are met
  • Provide appropriate teaching and instructions to patients

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant program recognized by the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC).
  • Certified by the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) through the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA)
  • Current membership in good standing with CAPA

Physician Assistants (CAPA)

  • Current membership in good standing with CAPA
  • Basic Life Support for Health Providers or CPR/AED Level C Certification

Additional Requirements

  • You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level

Il s’agit d’une occasion exceptionnelle de travailler aux côtés de professionnels de la santé militaires dans un environnement dynamique et valorisant, en fournissant des soins médicaux de premier ordre à une population active et motivée de militaires.

En tant qu’adjoint au médecin, vous jouerez un rôle clé dans la santé et le bien-être des membres des Forces armées canadiennes. Vous aurez l’occasion de travailler avec un groupe diversifié d’experts en santé, notamment des médecins, des infirmières, des spécialistes en santé mentale et des pharmaciens, tous axés sur la prestation de soins exceptionnels. Chaque journée apporte son lot de défis nouveaux et stimulants, alors que vous évaluez, diagnostiquez et gérez une vaste gamme de problèmes de santé, veillant à ce que nos Forces armées soient prêtes et aptes au service.

Responsabilités

  • Réaliser des évaluations de santé périodiques et effectuer des dépistages médicaux de routine
  • Obtenir les antécédents médicaux/incidents; réaliser des examens physiques ciblés et complets
  • Obtenir et interpréter des tests diagnostiques de routine (tels qu’une numération formule sanguine, une radiographie pulmonaire et un ECG)
  • Appliquer des interventions rapides en cas de traumatismes et d’urgences cardiaques
  • Promouvoir la santé et prévenir les maladies dans les domaines de la santé publique, professionnelle, mentale et communautaire
  • Pratiquer au sein d’une équipe interdisciplinaire et consulter les membres d’autres professions de la santé, au besoin, afin d’assurer que les besoins de soins du patient soient comblés
  • Fournir aux patients des enseignements et des instructions appropriés

Qualifications

  • Diplômé d’un programme d’adjoint au médecin reconnu par le Conseil de certification des adjoints au médecin du Canada (CCAM).
  • Certifié par le Conseil de certification des adjoints au médecin du Canada (CCAM) par l’intermédiaire de l’Association canadienne des adjoints au médecin (ACAM)
  • Membre en règle actuel de l’ACAM
  • Certification en Réanimation cardiorespiratoire de base pour fournisseurs de soins de santé (RCR) ou niveau C RCR/DEA
