Are you a customer-obsessed builder with a passion for helping customers achieve their full potential? Do you have the business savvy, Data & AI background, and sales skills necessary to help position AWS as the cloud provider of choice for customers? Do you love building new strategic and data-driven businesses? Join the Canadian Specialist Organization (CANSO) Data & AI team as a Specialist Solutions Architect!

At Amazon, we've been investing deeply in artificial intelligence for over 20 years, and many of the capabilities customers experience are driven by machine learning. The Canadian Specialist Organization (CANSO) works backwards from our customer's most complex and business critical problems to build and execute go-to-market plans that turn AWS ideas into multi-billion-dollar businesses. CANSO teams include business development, specialist sales and technical solutions architecture. As part of CANSO, you'll provide expertise across the entire life cycle of an AWS customer initiative, from developing ideas for new services to accelerating the adoption of established businesses. We pride ourselves on thinking big, delivering exceptional results for our customers, and working across AWS as #OneTeam.

AWS is looking for an Analytics Specialist Solutions Architect who will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for helping customers design solutions that leverage our Data & AI services. As part of the Specialist Solutions Architecture team, you will work closely with other Data & AI Specialist Architects from various geographies to enable large-scale customer use cases and drive the adoption of Amazon Web Services for analytics and AI/ML platforms.

This role is responsible for supporting customers across six core AWS analytics services: Amazon Redshift, AWS Glue and AWS Glue Data Catalog, Amazon EMR, Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio and AWS Lakehouse architecture patterns, Amazon OpenSearch Service, and Amazon Kinesis and Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (Amazon MSK) for streaming workloads. The ideal candidate will have breadth knowledge (L200+) across all six services and depth knowledge (L300+) in at least two of these services, enabling you to architect comprehensive analytics solutions while providing deep technical expertise where customers need it most.

You will interact with other Solution Architects in the field, providing guidance on their customer engagements, and you will develop white papers, blogs, reference implementations, and presentations to enable customers and partners to fully leverage Amazon Web Services. You will also create field enablement materials for the broader SA population to help them understand how to integrate Amazon Web Services analytics solutions into customer architectures. You drive effective feedback gathering from customers, and you distill and translate that feedback into clear business and technical requirements for product and engineering teams to review. You may continue to sponsor the creation of new products and features from these requirements, working closely with product and engineering teams to minimize requirements drift from your customer's needs.

Candidates must have great communication skills and be very technical, with the ability to impress Amazon Web Services customers at any level, from executive to developer. Previous experience with Amazon Web Services is desired but not required, provided you have experience building large-scale solutions. You will get the opportunity to work directly with senior data architects at customers, analytics SMEs, partners and Amazon Web Services service teams, influencing their roadmaps and driving innovation.

Key job responsibilities
Thought Leadership – Evangelize AWS analytics services and share best practices through forums such as AWS blogs, white-papers, reference architectures and public-speaking events such as AWS Summit, AWS re:Invent, etc.

Partner with SAs, Sales, Business Development, Data and the AI/ML Service teams to accelerate customer adoption and provide guidance on their customer engagements. Lead technical discovery and architecture reviews for analytics workloads, engaging directly with enterprise and ISV customers on migrations, modernization, and optimization initiatives.

Develop reference architectures and solution patterns for data lake, data warehouse, and real-time analytics use cases. Support pre-sales cycles through demos, proofs of concept, and technical proposals in partnership with specialist sellers and account solution architects.

Enable customers and field teams through workshops, enablement sessions, and repeatable solution kits that accelerate adoption and reduce time to value. Create field enablement materials for the broader SA population to help them understand how to integrate Amazon Web Services analytics solutions into customer architectures.

Act as a technical liaison between customers and the AWS analytics services teams to provide customer-driven product improvement feedback. Identify and document customer requirements, technical gaps, and competitive dynamics to inform service team roadmaps and field enablement programs.

Customer Advisor – You will build prototypes, PoCs, and explore new solutions. You will interact closely with our customers and represent AWS at customer briefings, industry events, and executive engagements.
