At our local office in Edmonton, Alberta we design and manufacture electrical equipment: Low Voltage Motor Control Centers and Switchboards. The plant is growing and increasing its capacity to satisfy the customer demand.

 

The Edmonton plant is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Plant team as “Training Coordinator”. In this role you’ll be responsible to ensure all employees have the right skills and knowledge to execute their tasks with the highest quality standards to meet our customer expectations. You’ll also support various other activities such as onboarding new hires, updating work instructions, host training sessions and conduct effectiveness checks of training.

 

This position is a temporary maternity backup.

 

What do you get to do in this position?

 

1. Training Program Development & Execution

  • Design, implement, coordinate and follow up on annual training plans, including a hands-on approach to wiring and mechanical assembly.
  • Administration and execution of mandatory learning requirements: planning, scheduling, coordination, follow-up and reminders, roster submission
  • Standardize training program and collaborate with the plant teams to develop tailored training content that aligns with the Engineer-to-Order (ETO) processes, ensuring that team members understand customer-specific requirements.
  • Structure courses that range from entry-level to advanced, targeting both new hires and current employees needing skills updates.
  • Define and structure the onboarding process for new hires.
  • Work closely with the trainers to perform and handle efficiently the training program.
  • Create, support and standardize all the training plans for all the functions in the plant (Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Quality, Production…)

2. Technical Instruction & Practical Application

  • Guide employees through hands-on activities in areas like Basic wiring assembly, Mechanics assembly, digital blueprint reading or BOM reading.
  • Ensure employees understand critical safety practices and electrical codes specificities.
  • Develop a learning corner for training people on the product and assembly methodology.

3. Facility-Wide Knowledge Building

  • Lead the development of standardized best practices and skill assessments to maintain a high level of proficiency in the plant.
  • Develop visual aids, documentation, and training materials that clearly communicate key skills, processes, and safety protocols.
  • Implement Kaizen principles to drive continuous improvement in training and modular assembly processes.

 

4. Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Monitor and evaluate trainee progress to ensure that they meet or exceed quality and safety standards.
  • Act as a liaison with Quality and Engineering teams to capture lessons learned and adapt training programs for improved defect prevention and product quality.
  • Regularly audit training outcomes to ensure alignment with critical-to-quality (CTQ) and critical-to-process (CTP) standards.
  • Document Control- Work directly with stakeholders to update work instructions, JBS’, SPLs, quality alerts, etc.
  • Create work instruction: safety, quality, methodology.
  • Participate in the process robustness assessment (PFMEA)

 

5. Mentorship & Development

  • Develop a program to train the trainers. Update the trainer when there is major evolution in training plans. Participate in the selection of the trainer role.
  • Provide mentorship, constructive feedback, and ongoing support to trainees, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill advancement.
  • Support the creation of a certification program for key skills within assembly, such as wiring, conduit work, and digital blueprint interpretation.
  • Assist with onboarding new trainers as needed, providing guidance on training delivery methods and technical knowledge transfer.
  • In charge of onboarding for all plant staff (create and execute job-specific onboarding packages)

 

6. Coordination & Scheduling

  • Coordinate, host and schedule training sessions across shifts and areas, adapting as needed to meet facility demands.
  • Maintain and manage employee training records, certifications, and performance reports to track progress and ensure compliance with Schneider Electric’s standards.
  • Maintain and manage the competency management system for hourly employees (e-versatility) and identify training gaps and needs.
  • Assist new hires with 100% Schneider Electric Essentials completion within first 30 days.
  • Monitor staff for all annualized training requirements and partner with stakeholders to build action plans and schedules for completion.
  • Assist with hourly employee connectivity and help to resolve issues with connecting, passwords, and PC errors. Connect new hires to the Self-Service tool and introduce to the Learning Corner

This job might be for you if:

 

  • You have a high school diploma, a background in training within industry is preferred
  • You have 1-3 years of relevant experience in Operations/HR, Personnel, or Learning,
  • You have experience in coordinating different teams and priorities
  • You are highly motivated and self-directed with ability to work in a diverse team
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Power Point, Word, Excel)
  • You are proficient in digital applications and can create automatic dashboards
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills and are fluent in English
  • You are able to manage multiple priorities effectively and efficiently, such as an ongoing training plan schedule
  • You have presentation, facilitation, and coaching skills
  • You have to demonstrate influencer skills
