Be part of our dynamic manufacturing team where you'll drive excellence in production processes! We're looking for a Manufacturing Production Worker who is passionate about operational efficiency and continuous improvement to join our innovative manufacturing environment.

At our local office in Edmonton, Alberta we design and manufacture electrical equipment: Low Voltage Motor Control Centers and Switchboards. The plant is growing and increasing its capacity to satisfy the customer demand.  

The Edmonton plant is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Plant team as “Production Team Lead”. In this role you’ll be responsible to use your manufacturing knowledge and experience of assembly/materials processes to assist the manager in leading others and managing challenging, sometimes stressful situations.  

What will you do? 

  • Supports daily management of the group to meet production and quality metrics.   
  • Assist in the coordination and prioritization of associates’ work activities.   
  • Change schedules/priorities when necessary and reassign resources as needed.   
  • Serve as a liaison for manufacturing/materials/engineering; ensure all barriers to production are escalated and follow through to resolution; participate in production meetings as required.  
  • Assist with hand-off between shifts to ensure a smooth transition.  
  • Model and maintain adherence to Schneider Electric rules, guidelines, and procedures.  Must have knowledge or be willing to develop knowledge of HR, Quality and Safety and Environmental policies/procedures.  Will ensure compliance in Safety and Quality procedures.  
  • Support and act as Safety Champion.  Ensure safety guidelines and PPE are used within plant.  Complete safety audits as required.  
  • Support initiatives and assist in determining the root cause of non-conforming issues.  
  • Must have or develop knowledge of SPS and drive Schneider initiatives and principles.   
  • Update SIM boards as needed.   
  • Responsible for overall 5S and complete 5S audits as required.   
  • Take initiative to use lean concepts to drive continuous improvement.  
  • Must be cross-trained (or willing to be cross-trained) in all areas.  
  • Assist in training others as directed by Supervisor to include cross training new and existing employees and assist supervisor in assessing skills and training needs for group.  
  • Lead SIM cycle 1 and 2 according to SPS rules, ensuring the quality of information provided to the support function  for SIM 2 
  • Make sure operators are trained & validates training levels 
  • Drive in real-time daily adjustments of staff according to the needs and job rotation 
  • Key contributor to the work instruction (physical tasks and IT tasks) 
  • Contribute or lead continuous improvement actions

 

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited school required 
  • Curious collaborator and teamplayer 
  • Inclusive leadership.  
  • Highly motivated and self-directed 
  • MS Office (excel & outlook) 
  • ERP systems 
  • Ability to work SAFELY.  
  • Ability to meet specified production standards.  
  • Ability to move or lift objects routinely weighing up to 40 pounds 
  • Ability to move or lift objects with both hands while bending or stooping on a continual basis throughout an 8-hour day 
  • Ability to walk and stand for 8 hours 
  • Must be able to train on 1st and 2nd shifts 
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.   
  • Ability to train, guide, and support associates in “best practices”
