About the Opportunity
Our client in the commercial real estate sector is seeking a detail-oriented Senior GL Accountant to support their finance team during a temporary leave coverage. In this role, you’ll play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring financial operations for a portfolio of commercial properties run smoothly.
Working alongside experienced finance leaders and property teams, you’ll contribute to the preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and analysis that directly support strategic decision-making. Your Responsibilities
You’ll prepare income statements, balance sheets, and other financial reports to support property portfolio performance.
In this role, you’ll manage month-end processes including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger postings.
You’ll analyze financial variances, budgets, and forecasts while providing recommendations on cash reserves, assets, and expenditures.
You’ll maintain and reconcile accounts receivable, billings, and bank accounts while ensuring accuracy in financial records.
You’ll prepare tenant billings, management fees, and year-end reconciliations while supporting financial statement and CAM audits.
You’ll prepare monthly HST filings and assist with compliance-related reporting requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with up to 3 years of relevant accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience supporting month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of IFRS principles with some exposure to applying them in practice.
Experience with property accounting systems such as Yardi is considered an asset.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Enrollment in the CPA program is considered an asset.
