About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a well-established organization in the retail and commercial supply sector to hire an Assortment Specialist who will support data-driven decisions related to product assortment and inventory strategy. In this role, you will analyze sales performance, product trends, and inventory data to help guide which products should remain in the core assortment, be expanded, or be discontinued.

You will work closely with internal teams across supply chain, sales, and category management to ensure product decisions align with market demand and operational needs. The role supports approximately 11 product categories, with the majority of analysis focused on key areas such as industrial footwear, industrial workwear, and commercial product lines. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining data analytics with business insight to influence product strategy.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll analyze sales performance, margins, inventory levels, and product lifecycle data to support assortment optimization across multiple categories.

  • You’ll support core assortment management, helping the team determine which products to maintain, source, or discontinue.

  • In this role, you’ll identify high-performing and underperforming SKUs and provide insights to support category strategy decisions.

  • You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor inventory levels, manage inactive items, and coordinate SKU updates within internal systems.

  • You’ll assist with forecasting and reporting, using historical sales and vendor data to guide assortment planning.

  • You’ll contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives, supporting the implementation of AI-driven tools such as Microsoft Copilot and agent-based workflows.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in data analytics, retail merchandising, inventory planning, or supply chain analysis

  • Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel and data reporting tools

  • Experience working with SQL or database querying tools, and familiarity with analytics platforms such as Quantisense, KNIME, or DBvis is an asset

  • Confidence working with data models and interpreting large datasets to support business decisions

  • Understanding of inventory management and assortment planning concepts

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
